I typically break down the NBA season into parts. The first part is Opening Night through Christmas. Then Christmas to all-star break and finally ASB to the playoffs. No, they do not all add up to equal increments, but this is just how I’ve always viewed it. Up to Christmas Day, teams are sorting out their rotations, preparing themselves for the trade deadline, and deciding if they’re able to make something of this season or if are they going to blow it all up. Christmas to All-Star break (February) is kind of a lull. I fear for more blowouts and half-hearted performances, but let’s jump into game 1 of the “middle stretch” of this season and my best NBA player prop bet of the night. Miles Bridges (CHA) over 6.5 rebounds (-120)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Bridges is averaging 0.19 rebounds per minute on a median 37-minute output, projecting us at 7.13 rebounds. Kawhi Leonard is day-to-day and questionable tonight, but his status doesn’t impact this pick all that much for me. I don’t see Bridges coming off the floor or drawing the James Harden assignment, so he should be playing closer to the basket for most of the game. He’s hit this number in 3 of the last 4 games and the Clippers allow the 2nd-most rebounds per game to opposing small forwards this season. In the 8 games that Bridges has played 37+ minutes this season, he’s gone over this line in 7 of them. If you’re looking for low $5 fun, check out his double-double for +375 on BetMGM for 0.25u. He’s had 5 so far this season and all have come in games when playing above 37 minutes.
