The NBA season has arrived! The season begins with 2 games on Opening Night, including the defending champion Boston Celtics raising their banner against the new-look New York Knicks, while LeBron James and the Lakers will be hosting the Timberwolves. Mikal Bridges (Knicks) under 14.5 Points (-125)

Did you see that new shot that Mikal Bridges was rocking in the preseason? It looks a little different than what we saw in previous seasons where he shot 38% from three. We’re not going to put too much stock into the preseason, but the last time we saw Bridges in action in preparation for Tuesday night, he shot 0/10 from three-point range against the Washington Wizards. He’s ultimately the 3rd/4th option on offense with very limited plays drawn up for him. He’s going to make most of his money off the catch-and-shoot. The good news for us is that the Boston Celtics excel in defending in that department.
Bridges was brought in to be an elite wing defender and challenge guys like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the perimeter. He’ll get that opportunity on Opening Night. On the offensive side, we’ll be sure to see a ton of pick-and-roll action with Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. Bridges will likely be occupying the corner waiting for an open shot. Jrue Holiday or Derrick White should be able to hold their own defending Brunson and limit any easy penetration into the paint, eventually leading to kickouts to Bridges.

For our second player prop bet for the start of the NBA season, we’re targeting another new-look contender — the Minnesota Timberwolves and their veteran Mike Conley. Conley may not be too happy about sharpshooter Donte DiVincenzo coming to town. DiVincenzo is more than capable of running an offense and could very well take Conley’s spot when closing games. He showcased his passing ability in the preseason with 4, 5, and 7 assists in his final 3 games. Alongside DiVincenzo comes Julus Randle, another weapon that will eat into Conley’s usage. The 2 will work in the pick-and-roll when on the floor together, but you’ll see much of the offense flow through Anthony Edwards, with Conley more so spotting up for three.
