After a flurry of elite scoring performances on Monday night on the anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s 81-point master class, we have a slightly smaller NBA slate on Tuesday night. There are just 5 games to peruse through, but some great matchups! The Battle of NY (Knicks vs Nets) and the Battle of LA (Lakers vs Clippers) headline tonight’s menu, along with the Nuggets facing the new-look Pacers with the addition of Pascal Siakam. The biggest injury news is that LeBron James is out for the Lakers’ game with the Clippers, so we’ll see what that means for the remaining Lakers roster. You can get our NBA picks for tonight’s big games, but for now let’s get into my favorite NBA player prop bet of the night.
D’Angelo Russell (LAL) over 7.5 assists (+112)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
As mentioned, LeBron is out tonight and this opens up the game quite considerably for trade candidate D’Angelo Russell. In the 4 games LeBron has missed this season, Russell has gone 4/4 against this number with 2 double-doubles. But that’s not why I like this play. Russell averages 0.20 assists per minute for the season and I’m projecting him at 32 minutes tonight, which brings the projected line to 6.4 assists. What puts me over the edge however is that Russell is averaging +4.53 assists per 100 possessions with LeBron off the floor. When you adjust that to match his 32-minute mark, he can expect to see +2.98 assists on top of his baseline projection with no LeBron. Therefore, it’s not a coincidence he’s hit this in all 4 games that LeBron has been out. He’s got a tough matchup tonight which is the tricky part of this play, but at +112 we’re getting good value on it.

$10 Lakers vs Clippers Same Game Parlay on FanDuel Sportsbook:
D’Angelo Russell 10+ assists: Hit this in 2 of 4 games with LeBron out of the lineup.
James Harden 4+ threes made: Lakers give up the 2nd-most above-the-break threes over their last 15 games and their backcourt defensively is atrocious. Prince will likely get the Kawhi/PG3 matchup, leaving Reaves and Russell on the perimeter with Harden.
