NBA Thursday is a perfect opportunity to extend my 42-29 record on NBA player prop bets this season. I’m also currently on a 9-3 run, so hopefully we can keep the momentum going! Let’s dive into my top NBA player prop bets for Thursday, March 14, but make sure you also read our NBA predictions for today’s matchups.

OG Anunoby, PF, NYK, Over 13.5 points (-105)

Odds available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.

I have no problem backing OG Anunoby tonight. It is his second game back from a month-and-a-half-long hiatus. In his first game back, Anunoby scored 14 points on 6-of-11 from the field in 28 minutes. Many are expecting Anunoby to play upwards of 30 minutes tonight. It makes it easier when Tom Thibodeau is your head coach.

Anunoby and the Knicks will battle the Portland Trail Blazers on the road, playing their second game in as many nights. They pulled out a win last night against the Atlanta Hawks but now find themselves as 10-point underdogs. Much of that is due to their sub-par defense, but it has recently improved slightly. If the Trail Blazers can keep this game close, and Anunoby sees the minutes I expect, I have him slated at around 16 points tonight — especially with Julius Randle still sidelined.

Al Horford, C, BOS, Under 9.5 points (-120)

Odds available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Yes, Kristaps Porzingis will be sidelined for this battle between the Phoenix Suns. Yes, I will still be fading Al Horford, who will be getting the start at center. FanDuel has tanked this line to -130, and I expect it to move to 8.5 by tipoff. Horford scored 11 points in his last game without Porzingis, but he shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, including three 3-pointers. If the veteran replicates that, so be it. Tonight will be the 4th consecutive game Porzingis has missed and Horford stayed under 9.5 points twice across those matchups.

I’ve had much success fading 4th-5th scoring options on loaded offenses. Volume is never guaranteed, especially when your offense revolves around scorers like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Brown is listed as questionable, but the hope is that he will be suited up and ready to go. The Suns are a team that can go small and potentially take Horford out of the game or cause him to struggle against Jusuf Nurkic.
