Show Bio

Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. The NBA brings us a 9-game slate that includes an international game, with the San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers taking their talents to Paris. That early tip-off at 2:00 pm ET on NBA TV will be followed by a couple of nationally televised games on TNT, with the Miami Heat taking on the Milwaukee Bucks before the showcase event of the night, as the Boston Celtics visit the Los Angeles Lakers to renew the oldest rivalry in the NBA. You can find out our NBA picks for all of tonight’s big matchups, but for now, let’s take a look at my best NBA player prop bets for today.

Victor Wembanyama (SA) over 3.5 made threes (+130)

Victor Wembanyama will be relishing returning to France as the San Antonio Spurs take on the Indiana Pacers in Paris. He will undoubtedly be the focal point of the offense today, which should lead to an abundance of three-point attempts. Wemby is now shooting 9.1 of them per game, knocking down 35.4% of his attempts. He will have Myles Turner matched up against him at times which will mean that Wembanyama will play a major role in pulling him away from the paint. After all, Turner is one of the top shot-blockers in the NBA.

While the Pacers have been great at defending the three-point shot of late, ranking 4th in opponent three-point percentage, there will be little they can do to affect Wembanyama. With the height he releases his shot from, it’s hard to contest Wemby’s attempts. The Spurs should lean heavily on him here, and I expect him to deliver in Paris.

Paolo Banchero (ORL) over 3.5 turnovers (+110)

With the injury crisis that has hit the Magic, Paolo Banchero has had to carry a very heavy load on offense. That has understandably turned into turnovers for the forward. Over his last 6 games, Banchero is averaging 4 turnovers per game. He had 5 or more turnovers in 3 of those contests.

The Portland Trail Blazers should be well-positioned to force mistakes from him. They are middle of the league in opponent turnovers per game, ranking 15th in that category over the last 10 games. The Blazers have defenders in Jerami Grant and Robert Williams III who should be able to match up against the Magic star and make life difficult for him. They also have terrific athletes with length like Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson, who can pick off passes that Banchero tries to kick out. Back the star to pick up more turnovers here.

Anthony Davis (LAL) over 24.5 points (-110)

Anthony Davis dominated the Boston Celtics last season, dropping 40 points in the only matchup against them last season. He should be well-positioned to dominate them in Los Angeles once more tonight. At home, Davis is currently averaging 27.5 points per game and has hit this over in 2 of his last 3 games in front of his home fans.

The Celtics also lack depth on the interior. Kristaps Porzingis has the length to be a great stopper, but Davis should be able to push him around in the paint. Meanwhile, Luke Kornet or Al Horford should not prove too much of a challenge for the Lakers center. Over the last 10 games, the Celtics are also 19th in opponent second-chance points per game. It’s an avenue I can see Davis using tonight to pick up a few extra easy scores.

Kawhi Leonard (LAC) under 4.5 rebounds (+105)

Kawhi Leonard has started to shake off some of his rust offensively of late, but he continues to be on a minutes restriction. Having not surpassed more than 24 minutes in a game this season, it has impacted his rebounding numbers. He is averaging just 2.6 rebounds per game this season, having hit the over on this line just once in 5 games.

While the Washington Wizards are awful offensively and will likely miss plenty of shots, it might not result in boards for Leonard. He managed just 2 rebounds in 24 minutes recently against the Brooklyn Nets, despite holding them to 67 points. The Clippers have enough rebounding throughout their roster not to require Leonard to exert himself on this end, so look for him to continue focusing on scoring the ball for now.
