Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. The NBA brings us a 6-game slate on Thursday that will see a couple of the elite teams from each conference take to the floor. The defending champion Boston Celtics will be in a cross-conference matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which could potentially serve as an NBA Finals preview. Meanwhile, the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder will be looking to extend their lead at the top as they welcome the Los Angeles Clippers. You can find out all of our NBA picks for tonight’s big games, but for now, let’s dive into my best NBA player prop bets for today.

James Harden (LAC) under 20.5 points (-105)

Odds available at Bet365 at time of publishing.

This will be the 3rd time this season that James Harden will be facing off against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The first couple of games did not go smoothly for him. The Clippers’ superstar averaged just 14.5 points in those games, failing to hit the Over on this line or to shoot above 33.3% from the field in the process. He is not entering this game in great form either, having been held to below 20 points in 3 of his last 5 games. In 11 games since the start of December, he has made more than 6 field goals just twice. That seems unlikely to change considering that over the last 10 games the Thunder have remained the leaders in the league in defensive rating. OKC has personnel like Luguentz Dort who should be well-positioned to cause Harden issues once more here. It is hard to see him having a huge night tonight.

Cameron Johnson (BKN) over 16.5 points (-115)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Cameron Johnson has been in phenomenal form for the Brooklyn Nets. Over the last 11 games, he has hit at least 17 points in 9 contests. That run of games includes 2 contests against the Milwaukee Bucks, in which he dropped 26 and 29 points, respectively. A game against the same opponent should bring about a similar result. He has been on fire from beyond the arc too, managing to average over 44% from distance since the start of November. The Bucks have remained in the bottom half of the league in opponent three-point attempts, makes and percentage over the last 10 games. With Johnson now being the number-1 option on offense for the rebuilding Nets, he should get no shortage of opportunities to get shots up. He will have a great chance of hitting the over once more here.
