NBA Sunday is headlined by lone MVP candidates in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic going head-to-head to kickoff the 8-game slate. I’ve picked out my best NBA player prop in that game and others.

You can also find out our expert NBA picks for the big games on Sunday, March 9. For now, let’s dive into my favorite player props.

Max Christie (DAL) Under 15.5 points (-120)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Max Christie has been put into a tough situation. The Mavericks are asking him to be a top scoring option for them with the likes of Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis on the sidelines. Klay Thompson and Naji Marshall have stepped up in the scoring department, but Christie, not so much. Over his last 5 games, he’s scored more than 10 points just once and is shooting 32% from the field. Even against a woeful Phoenix Suns defense, you’re asking a lot from Christie, who has struggled from the field and is tasked as the third scoring option on the team that can’t create for each other.

Nikola Jokic (DEN) Under 27.5 points (-125)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

F0llowing his historic performance on Friday night, Nikola Jokic continues to put pressure on Shai Gilegous-Alexander for the MVP award. Heading into Friday, Alexander was -700 to win the award. That has now shrunk to -300 with Jokic recording the first 30/20/20 game in NBA history. But Jokic will have his hands full on Sunday versus a Thunder defense that is elite all around. Their tandem duo in the frontcourt, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein, can match up physically versus Jokic and those 2 are capable of holding their own. I would expect a similar approach to the one the Celtics had on Jokic last Sunday, which was to make others beat you. The Thunder will live with Christian Braun, Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook beating them from the outside — especially with how elite the Thunder are defensively on the perimeter.
