While today’s NBA slate is not large, consisting of just 4 games, we will see the best team in the league so for in action. The Cleveland Cavaliers took down the Golden State Warriors in their last outing and extended their unbeaten start to the season, which now stands at 10 games. No other team in the Eastern Conference has fewer than 2 losses. Their matchup against the Brooklyn Nets is one of the 4 Saturday games, check out our previews for those here. But now, let’s dive into my player prop selections.
Jarrett Allen (CLE) over 14.5 points (-105)
With Nic Claxton being one of the only true bigs in the Brooklyn Nets roster, they have a real lack of size on the interior. That is especially considering the fact that Claxton does not carry much bulk. Its something Jarrett Allen could take full advantage of tonight. The Nets have been giving up 14.2 second chance and Allen will get the chance to grab a chunk of that here. The Cavaliers center is averaging 14.9 points per game and is one of the leaders in the league in field goal percentage. He is also averaging 13 rebounds per game this month and should be a handful on the offensive glass. In the last 4 Nets games the nets have played, Al Horford, Zach Edey, Jalen Duren and Nikola Vucevic have all exceeded their season average in points per game. Allen should be next.
Walker Kessler (UTAH) over 2.5 steals & blocks (-125)
Walker Kessler has been off to a great defensive start so far this season that has seen him hit this prop in 7 of his 8 games so far. That includes the previous meeting between the Utah Jazz and the San Antonio Spurs, where he managed to record 3 blocks. The Spurs should be a good opponent for him to continue his streak against. The Spurs currently rank in the bottom 10 of the league in both 3-pointers made and 3-point percentage. Their inefficiency from there should see them attack the paint, where Kessler will be waiting. The Jazz center will spend time matched up against Victor Wembanyama here. However, considering that the Spurs star is making just 22.6% of his 3-pointers this season, he will struggle to pull center out of the paint. Look for Kessler’s defensive numbers to benefit as a result.
