It’s all on Tyrese Maxey to get the Philadelphia 76ers into a winning position before the playoffs. With Joel Embiid most likely sidelined for the rest of the regular season, Maxey is the number 1 option and has proven he can carry the offensive load without the reigning MVP. In 18 games this season without the big man, Maxey has scored at least 28 points in 7 of 18 games, including two games of at least 40. His shot volume is what is most encouraging. Even with some new additions since the All-Star Break, Maxey will see upwards of 20+ field goal attempts, with at least 7 coming from the three-point line.
The Milwaukee Bucks have yet to be willing to play defense this season. The firing of Adrian Griffin and the hiring of Doc Rivers have yet to move the needle. They’ve lost 4 out of their 6 games and allowed over 112 points per game during that span.
Maxey’s last three games have showcased why he’s an elite scorer. He’s faced off against some of the league’s best defenses in the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers. The result was 2 30+ point games and scoring 24 in a win against the surging Cavaliers. I have complete confidence in his volume and scoring ability to start the Sunday slate.
