Let’s start the new week with a bang, and what better way than by diving into a couple of MLB player props? We have an 11-game MLB slate on deck. You can find out our MLB picks for today’s huge matchups, but for now, let’s dive into our best MLB player prop bets for Monday, April 22.
Bryce Harper (PHI) Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs (-125)
Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.
It took a bit, but Bryce Harper has figured out his woes at the plate. Harper is hitting .320 in his last 7 games while riding a 6-game hitting streak. Perhaps coincidentally, the Phillies are on a 6-game winning streak. The bats are starting to come alive, led by Trea Turner, putting up MVP-like numbers. As most of you know, with this MLB prop market, we’re also relying on the hitters in front and behind Harper.
Harper and the Phillies will be tested by flamethrower Hunter Greene tonight in Cincinnati. Greene has been spectacular to start the season, but he’s susceptible to giving up hits to left-handed hitters. Southpaws are hitting .268 against Greene. All signs point to Greene pitching deep into the game, as the Reds had to use a plethora of pitchers after Frankie Montas left the game early yesterday due to a comebacker off his arm. Harper most likely will get 3 at-bats against Greene. I’ll ride the hot hand, along with the hot offense.

Reid Detmers (LAA) Over 1.5 Walks (-135)
Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.
I tip my cap to Reid Detmers. He’s having a career-best start to 2024. His xERA and xBA rank in the top 80th percentile in all of baseball while having a 35% K rate. He’s lowered his BB% slightly, but we’re still going to fade him in that department tonight against the Baltimore Orioles — the 2nd time Detmers will see the O’s this season.
Detmers struggled with his command all of last season. He issued at least 2 walks in 22 of 28 starts. Now that he’s showing ace stuff, he’s relied on heavily by an Angels pitching staff with a bottom-10 ERA. He’s expected to go around 6 innings tonight as his outs prop is listed at 16.5 with vig on the over.
Detmers opened his 2024 campaign against the Orioles. He pitched 5 innings of one-run baseball but issued 2 free passes. The Orioles don’t rank well in the BB% department, but we’re banking on slight regression out of Detmers and the Orioles hitters being patient at the plate against a pitcher they saw less than a month ago.
