MLB pick today: Boston Red Sox ML over Detroit Tigers (-145), 1:10 pm ET

Heading into this afternoon’s game, the Tigers rank in the bottom 3 in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS. Riley Greene and Matt Vierling have led the team, as each hitter has above a .300 average after 5 games. But they are the only hitters on the team hitting above .300, as key members in the order like Jonathan Schoop, Austin Meadows, Spencer Torkelson, and especially Javier Baez, have struggled at the start of the season.

The Detroit lineup is completely outmatched by Boston’s, which has Rafael Devers, Adam Duvall and Alex Verdugo hitting the cover off the ball right now. It’s hard to get a read on this pitching matchup which makes me lean toward the better offense, and that’s the Red Sox.

NHL pick today: New Jersey Devils -1.5 over Columbus Blue Jackets (-150), 7:00 pm ET

One of the biggest mismatches on the jam-packed NHL slate tonight is the Devils hosting the Blue Jackets. While the Devils may have clinched their playoff berth, that doesn’t mean they’ll be coasting for their last few games. New Jersey is just 3 points back from the Carolina Hurricanes for the Metro Division lead, and there’s no doubt they’re gunning for it. Their great balance of offense and defense is what makes them so great, which is the complete opposite of the Jackets. Columbus not only allows the 2nd-most goals per game, but they also score the 3rd-fewest. When the Jackets visited New Jersey earlier this season, the Devils came away with a smooth 7-1 win, and we expect another convincing victory this time around.

NHL pick today: Pittsburgh Penguins ML over Minnesota Wild (-135), 7:07 pm ET

The Penguins remain in a heated race with the Panthers and Islanders for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins have made the playoffs for 16 consecutive seasons and are now in danger of breaking that streak with a few games remaining in the regular season. Pittsburgh’s offense has been terrific this season at finding the back of the net, but their defense and goaltending has let them down.

The good news for the Penguins is that Minnesota has been an inconsistent offense at times this season, especially without their leading scorer in Kirill Kaprizov. Pittsburgh has the clear offensive advantage, therefore backing them to win this crucial game will be our best play.

NHL pick today: Colorado Avalanche -1.5 over San Jose Sharks (+115), 10:30 pm ET

These teams faced off on Tuesday night with the Avalanche coming away with an overtime win. Colorado was -2.5 on the puck line for that matchup, which is why we’re getting incredible value on them this time. Oddsmakers have adjusted after seeing the Sharks perform well above expectations, but San Jose was the last team in the NHL to reach 20 wins, and that only happened a few days ago.

Even though the Avalanche needed overtime in the game on Tuesday, they crushed the Sharks 6-0 last month, therefore backing them on the puck line will be our best play as a much better performance is expected tonight.
