Donovan Mitchell over 22.5 points (-118)
Despite his team having the best record in the NBA, Donovan Mitchell is nowhere near the MVP conversation and this is the perfect game for him to prove his doubters wrong once again. He’s been relatively reserved in his last 2 games, scoring only 19 and 15 points, but that’s only because his team didn’t need more than that from him to beat the Hornets and shorthanded Mavericks. In order to beat the streaking Thunder, Mitchell will have to be at the top of his game here. He’s played well against OKC lately, averaging 29 points per game in the last 3 meetings. The last time he played them at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse he exploded for 43 points, including 4 threes. It’s time for him to step up and show everyone why he deserves to be at least mentioned in the MVP discussion.
Darius Garland 2+ made threes (-350)
Being 2nd fiddle to Mitchell hasn’t demotivated Darius Garland at all this season. In fact, I would argue that’s exactly the role he excels in the most. Just like Mitchell, Garland too is playing just 30 minutes per game as the Cavs are dominantly winning most of their games so he can afford to rest more. His three-point shooting has been off the charts all year long. In home games, Garland is at an unreal 48.1% efficiency from downtown, while in his last 10 games overall that number is at just under 45%. Oklahoma City does defend the three-ball well this year, but facing the Cavaliers, who are the most efficient three-point shooting team in the NBA, will be a whole different animal. Garland has scored 2 threes in 11 straight games and I expect that run to continue here.
Isaiah Hartenstein to record 1+ blocks (-300)
Getting Isaiah Hartenstein from the Knicks might have saved the season for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Chet Holmgren has been out for over a month now, and other than Hartenstein there’s really nobody else on the team that can defend the paint like he does. The Thunder allow 41.4 points per game on the inside this year which leads the NBA, and the gap between them and the 2nd placed Kings is 3.1 points. In his last 10 games, Hartenstein is averaging 1.5 blocks per game, and we just saw him block 3 shots in the impressive win over Boston the other day. He’s recorded multiple blocks in 4 of his last 5 games and we only need one against Cleveland for this leg of our Thunder vs Cavaliers Same Game Parlay to land. He’s done that 7 times in the last 10 meetings head-to-head, so there’s a good chance he adds to that here.
Cason Wallace to record 2+ steals (-125)
Cason Wallace is another defensive stopper who has contributed heavily towards this Oklahoma City Thunder 15-game win streak. He enjoys playing the passing lanes and right now he’s on a streak of 2 or more steals in 7 straight games. Just the other day against Minnesota he finished with 4 thefts. At 11.7 steals per game, the Thunder lead the league, and that number is at a respectable 10.3 steals over their last 3 games which ties the Atlanta Hawks for the 2nd-highest number in the NBA.
Cleveland likes to play an up-tempo style, which has resulted in them turning the ball over 14.1 times per game when playing at home. Wallace has seen an increase in minutes played lately, logging 30+ in 5 of his last 6 games, which is always a good sign when you’re backing a player to get steals. Against the most efficient offense in the NBA, the Thunder will need to keep that number high if they want to force turnovers.
