The Tennessee Titans were coming off a remarkable 2021 season in which they caught a ton of breaks en route to the top seed in the AFC playoffs that year. Needless to say, 2022 was a season of regression for the Titans, as Tennessee missed the playoffs and struggled with injuries and unfortunate luck, a complete role reversal from the season prior. With how different each of the last 2 seasons have gone, what can we expect from the Titans this season? Let’s take a look at some of the odds and best bets to be made on the Tennessee Titans in 2023.

Tennessee Titans 2022 NFL season recap

The Titans had a rare difficult season in 2022, as coach Mike Vrabel is used to getting the absolute most out of this teams. Quarterback play was the major issue for Tennessee, as Ryan Tannehill was injured at multiple points during the season. The Titans offensive system was definitely thrown out of wack without Tannehill, as Malik Willis was very poor in his handful of starts toward the end of the season, particularly in a loss to the Texans in Week 16. The Titans finished with a 7-10 record, and it truly could’ve been worse.

Tennessee Titans 2023 NFL season predictions

Tennessee doesn’t look exceptional on paper, but Vrabel is often at his best when the Titans are primed to sneak up on people, as opposed to being the favorites in the AFC South. There’s an outside shot that Tennessee greatly outperforms what most will set its preseason expectations at, but even with that being said, it’s hard to see a world in which the Titans qualify for the playoffs in a brutal AFC filled with great quarterbacks. Let’s get into my best bets.

Best bet: Tennessee Titans over 7.5 wins (-125)

More often than not, I’m going to trust a good coach to get a team over the line to respectability, especially over the course of a full season. We saw this happen last year with the New York Giants, as Brian Daboll installed a new culture and it immediately paid dividends in a win total over and playoff appearance. We’ve seen this happen year over year in Tennessee with Vrabel at the controls, and I expect a similar result this fall. It helps that the Titans draw the NFC South, which gives them 4 very winnable games on the schedule, in addition to playing 6 games against the rest of the AFC South. That alone gives them a good shot at clearing this win total, and I simply trust the coach to get the Titans at least one more win in a game where they probably shouldn’t.

Tennessee Titans season record prediction: 8-9

I couldn’t quite get there with a winning season for Tennessee, but I still project the Titans to clear their win total and settle into comfortably mediocrity this fall. I see Tennessee knocking off the Texans twice and splitting the season series against the Colts and Jaguars. That gets us to 4 wins, and I foresee Tennessee going 3-1 against the putrid NFC South, knocking off the Buccaneers on the road and the Saints in Week 1. That just leaves us needing 1 additional win, which could come in a variety of ways considering the Titans still have a forceful ground game and a competent quarterback under center.
