Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 over Chicago Blackhawks (+100)

The Tampa Bay Lightning start a 3-game road trip when they play the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. The Lightning come into this game on fire as they have won 6 of their past 7 games and are now only 1 game back of the Panthers for the Atlantic Division lead. The Blackhawks are on a bit of a slide, with only having 2 wins in their past 7 games, which included a loss yesterday against the Flyers.

The Lightning have the advantage on both sides of the ice and that is only intensified with the Blackhawks playing their second games in as many days. Offensively, the Lightning are a borderline top 10 team — ranking 11th in expected goals and 7th in goals for per game. The Blackhawks rank in the bottom 3 in both those categories. Defensively it’s more of the same as the Lightning rank in the top 10 in both expected goals against and goals allowed per game, while the Blackhawks rank 24th in goals allowed per game. Take the Bolts on the puck line.

Carolina Hurricanes -2.5 over Seattle Kraken (+145)

The Seattle Kraken continue their 5-game Eastern Conference road trip on Sunday as they play the Carolina Hurricanes. The Kraken will be playing their second game of a back-to-back, as they lost last night to the Capitals. The Hurricanes got back to their winning ways on Friday with a come from behind win against the Penguins, giving them 7 wins in their last 9 games.

The value in this game all stems from the Hurricanes’ offense against a tired Kraken team with bad goaltending. The Hurricanes are a top-5 offense as they rank 2nd in expected goals, 8th in goals per game and have scored at least 3 in 6 of their last 8 games. Trying to stop that potent Hurricanes attack will be projected starter for the Kraken, Philipp Grubauer. Grubauer has 3.17 goals against average, a .888 save percentage and ranks last in goals saved above expected. Grubauer has also allowed 3 or more goals in a game in 4 of his last 5 starts. Look for the Hurricanes to light up the Kraken goaltending and place your bet on the Hurricanes alternative puck line.

Anaheim Ducks -1.5 over San Jose Sharks (+145)

The San Jose Sharks start a 2-game Southern California road trip on Sunday night when they play the Anaheim Ducks. The Sharks have been struggling as they have lost 10 of their past 12 games, which includes an embarrassing loss last night to the Predators, losing 8-0. The Ducks are wrapping up a 6-game home-stand, which started off with a win against the Sharks just under 2 weeks ago.

The Ducks will be rested and are the better overall team, ranking higher in all major offensive and defensive categories than the Sharks. The real value, however, comes from the projected goaltending matchup. The Ducks are projecting to play longtime starter, John Gibson, who ranks in the top 30 in goals saved above expected. The Sharks will counter with projected starter, Zach Sawchenko. Sawchenko is the Sharks’ 3rd string goalie, has appeared in only 4 games this season, none of which were starts and has a record of 0-1-0. Look for the Ducks to take advantage of an inexperienced goalie.
