NFL pick today: Tennessee Titans vs Houston Texans – Over 39 points (-115), 1:00 pm ET
Plain and simple, we expect points in this game. Derrick Henry will not be stopped by a run defense that allows the most rushing yards per game this season, and while Tennessee’s run defense should limit Dameon Pierce, the Houston passing attack should be able to find enough holes in the Titans secondary to counter. The Titans are allowing the second-most passing yards per game, they don’t generate a particularly strong pass-rush, and they’ve given up 13 touchdowns through the air this season. Both teams are flawed and that should lead to a fair number of points this afternoon.

NFL pick today: Miami Dolphins vs Detroit Lions – Under 52 points (-110), 1:00 pm ET
When the Lions are involved in the largest total of the entire week, you have to like the under’s chances. After all, these are not the Lions of old — not even the Lions of the first few weeks of this season. Their 2 most recent point outputs are 0 (against New England) and 6 (against Dallas). Given all the injuries they are dealing with, especially to pass-catchers and offensive linemen, things may not get any better in the immediate future.
Although this is a decent matchup for the Dolphins’ offense, keep in mind that they have scored between 15 and 21 points in all but 1 game this season. The under is 4-1 in the Dolphins’ last 5 overall, 6-2 in their last 8 on the road and 11-4 in their last 15 against opponents with losing records. It is also 6-2 in the Lions’ last 8 against opponents with winning records and 6-1 in their last 7 after scoring fewer than 15 points in their previous outing. For that reason, backing the under will be the play.

NHL pick today: Columbus Blue Jackets vs New Jersey Devils – Over 6.5 goals (-105), 2:00 pm ET
Both teams ranked inside the top 5 in terms of the most goals allowed per game last season. The Blue Jackets defeated the Devils in 3 different 1-goal games last season. Ironically enough, all 3 of those games finished with the same final score of 4-3. Columbus has already gone over the total in 6 of their last 8 games, so expect plenty of goals Sunday afternoon.

NBA pick today: Los Angeles Clippers -2.5 over New Orleans Pelicans (-110), 3:10 pm ET
In the past 3 games for the Pelicans, they have allowed at least 120 points or more in 2 of these 3 games. So even though the Pelicans are averaging close to 120 points per game currently, the Clippers are one of the best defensive teams in the league holding teams to a little less than 109 points per game and ranked 3rd in opponent field goal percentage. Because the Clippers’ defense has been solid all season, backing them to win and cover will be the play.
