Blues vs. Sharks First Round Playoff Predictions
Game 1: Blues vs. Sharks
Line: Sharks -135
Pickswise Expert Picks: Sharks WIN!
The St. Louis Blues look to have a tall task ahead of them as they head to the SAP Center in San Jose to square-off with the Sharks in game one of the Western Conference Finals of the NHL Playoffs. St. Louis enters with a 12-6 record in their last 12 games. San Jose is 7-3 in their last 10 games this season. Both teams were able to survive brutal seven-game series in the last round.
The Sharks will want to get their hands on wins in this series early so they won’t have to worry about their third straight seven-game series in these playoffs. The Blues are 2-4 in their last six games against the Sharks. San Jose is 3-1 in their last four games at home in the playoffs. Joe Pavelski is back in the line-up for San Jose, but injuries could still be a concern for the Sharks moving forward. The Sharks have beaten the Blues in four of the last six meetings at the SAP Center in San Jose. The San Jose Sharks are a good pick to get the win in game one.
Game 2: STL Blues @ SJ Sharks
Line: Sharks -135
Pickswise Expert Pick: Sharks ML/ WIN
The St. Louis Blues will look to limit the San Jose Sharks in their game two match-up at the SAP Center. The Sharks looked almost unstoppable in game one on their way to a dominating 6-3 win over the Blues. The home ice has been a big advantage for San Jose as they have won six of their last seven games at home. The Blues have only won once in their last five tries at the SAP Center. St. Louis is 6-4 in their last 10 meetings, while San Jose is 7-3 in their last 10 games.
The loss in game one ended the Blues two-game winning streak. St. Louis has struggled in their last three meetings with San Jose as the Sharks have won each of those games. St. Louis has struggled on the road recently, but currently finds itself with a 3-2 record in their last five road games. San Jose has been a tough team to beat at home, and their 5-1 record in their last six home games really proves that. With that being said, the Sharks will have a great shot to extend that record to 6-1, and that is why San Jose is the team to roll with in game two.
Game 3: SJ Sharks @ STL Blues
Line: Blues -145
Pickswise Expert Pick: Blues ML/ WIN
The Blues and Sharks could be in for a long series, as they enter game three of the series tied at one game apiece. The Blues responded to the 6-3 shellacking the Sharks gave the Blues in game one, by beating San Jose on their own ice in game two 4-2. The Sharks are 8-4 in their last 12 games, while the Blues have gone 13-7 in their last 20 games. The Blues have had a strong season, especially on their own ice at the Enterprise Center where they are 10-4 in their last 14 home games. The win in game two was the first victory for the Blues over the Sharks since their first meeting of the season back in November. Logan Couture has been on fire for the Sharks this postseason with 13 goals including four in the first two games of this series. He could be the key for the Sharks moving forward, but his two goals in game two weren’t enough as St. Louis was able to put up four goals. Game three could be yet another high scoring output, as both teams have been piling up the goals so far in this series. The Blues at home are a good pick in game three.
Game 4: SJ Sharks @ STL Blues
Line: Blues -140
Pickswise Expert Pick: Sharks ML/ WIN
Game three didn’t turn out the way the St. Louis Blues and their fans had wanted, as the San Jose Sharks snuck out a 5-4 overtime victory to take a 2-1 lead in the series heading into a key game four also at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. The Sharks bring a 9-4 record in their last 13 games, into this game four showdown. The Blues will look to get back in the win column to improve their current 1-2 record in their last three games. That also includes a 5-5 record in their last 10 games this season. St. Louis also only has four victories over the Sharks in their last 10 head-to-head meetings. The Sharks are 6-4 in their last 10 games this season, along with six victories over the Blues in their last 10 head-to-head games. Goal Scoring has been on full display in this series, as the Sharks and Blues have scored six combined goals in each of their three games played so far in this series. Expect the scoring to continue in this game four meeting. The Sharks are a good team to back in game four and to take a 3-1 lead in the series heading back to San Jose.
Game 5: STL Blues @ SJ Sharks
Line: Sharks -135
Pickswise Expert Pick: Sharks ML/WIN
The San Jose Sharks return to their home ice at the SAP Center, deadlocked at two games apiece with the Blues. St. Louis was able to capture a tough 2-1 victory in game four on their own ice. The series has been crazy thus far as they Sharks and Blues have had three very high scoring games prior to their bit of a shocking three goal total in game four. The Blues and Sharks last meeting in San Jose was quite favorable for the road team as St. Louis was able to grab a solid 4-2 win back in game two. Like most of the games in this series game five could be very compelling as both teams could be in for yet another tight and low scoring match-up.
The Blues have picked up their play against the Sharks in their last three head-to-head meetings as they have won two of those three games. San Jose will look to get back to their winning ways especially at home where they have only loss once to St. Louis in their last five meetings at the SAP Center. With that said game five is in for a battle but the San Jose Sharks are the team to roll with in this one.
Game 6: SJ Sharks @ STL Blues
Line: Blues -160
Pickswise Expert Pick: Blues ML/ WIN
The San Jose Sharks and St. Louis Blues square-off at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis as the Sharks will hope to force a winner take all game seven back in San Jose. The Blues looked unafraid of what they were facing in their game five match-up at the SAP Center as St. Louis went on to win 5-0 in that game. The Sharks have lost two straight against the Blues, and their injuries have mounted up as of late this postseason. St. Louis is 5-3-2 in their last 10 head-to-head meetings with the Sharks. Two victories in their last three games give the Blues confidence, and they can even look at their overtime loss in game three as something to build off of. The Blues bring an 11-5 record in their last 16 games at home this season. The Sharks only two games ago looked like they had all the momentum in the world, and looked like they were in a place that they could win this series, but since then the Blues back-to-back wins in games four and five, have the Blues in a spot to win the series. With that being said the St. Louis Blues are the team to back to win game six and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
