Luton or tie double chance over Chelsea (+150), 7:30 am ET
There is a strong sway of opinion believing Chelsea are a good side, that are creating plenty of chances and it’s only a matter of time before the Blues burst into winning form. Yes, Chelsea have played well at times this season and they have been at their most impressive when able to use their pacy attack to hit teams on the counter-attack. However, there is more to winning a football match than just flying forward and Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been extremely poor in the key areas of the pitch.
Chelsea have lost 4 road games in a row — they were hammered 4-1 by Newcastle, lost the shot count 20-10 in a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United, and the Blues were also bested by Everton and Wolves. That simply isn’t the form or performances of a side that can be considered credible heavy favorites to win at Luton on Saturday.
The Hatters have beaten Newcastle at Kenilworth Road, they held Liverpool to a tie and caused Arsenal and Manchester City major problems. Rob Edwards’ men will be motivated to follow up their 3-2 win at Sheffield United on Tuesday and Luton look an excellent bet on the double chance market.
Aston Villa vs Burnley Over 2.5 (-186), 10:00 am ET
It will be interesting to see how Aston Villa respond to their 3-2 loss at Manchester United on Tuesday, but it’s unlikely that Unai Emery’s team will take a backward step against Burnley. Villa’s 14 all-competition matches are averaging 3.2 goals per game and there have been 45 goals in Aston Villa’s last 13 English Premier League contests.
Burnley kept their first road clean sheet of the EPL season at Fulham in their previous road trip, but they face a more potent attacking force on Saturday. The Clarets have struggled this season, but head coach Vincent Kompany has maintained a positive approach and Burnley look capable of contributing to a high-scoring contest.
Wolves ML over Everton (+170), 10:00 am ET
Wolves have picked up 2 excellent results over the festive period and Gary O’Neil’s side host Everton following a 2-1 victory over Chelsea and a 4-1 hammering of Brentford in west London. Everton are not a team that can be easily opposed, but the Toffees put in a huge effort when losing 3-1 to Man City on Wednesday and those exertions may leave their mark at Molineux.
