Luton or tie double chance over Newcastle (+120), 10:00 am ET, Saturday
Newcastle have a clear class edge over Luton, but the Magpies don’t deserve to have -150 odds at Kenilworth Road on Saturday. Eddie Howe’s team were struggling at the end of the 90 minutes against Chelsea on Tuesday and Newcastle’s tough schedule has taken its toll on a fairly thin squad. Sven Botman, Anthony Gordon and Emil Krafth are the latest Magpies to join an ever-increasing injury list and Luton have shown enough resiliency at home to suggest they can hurt a depleted Newcastle team.
Arsenal ML over Liverpool (+180), 12:30 pm ET, Saturday
Liverpool were held by Manchester United last weekend and the Reds are one of the few top teams that have failed to beat the struggling Red Devils this season. Jurgen Klopp’s men were pretty disappointing in that 0-0 Anfield tie and that snapped a run of 11 straight home victories. It’s easy to look at Liverpool’s home form and be impressed, but it doesn’t quite stand up to scrutiny.
The Reds have faced only 3 teams in the top 10 of the English Premier League at Anfield this season. Away from home, Liverpool have lost against Tottenham, Toulouse and Union St. Gilloise, they have failed to win at Luton, Brighton, Man City and Chelsea, and although it’s easy to attribute the results to being away from Anfield, it could also be down to the fact they have faced a better standard of opposition. Arsenal are certainly a top-level club and the Gunners have the advantage of having a free week to prepare for Saturday’s clash. At the odds, Mikel Arteta’s side can be backed to collect a huge 3 points.
Wolves tie no bet over Chelsea (+180), 8:00 am ET, Sunday
Chelsea will have been pleased to book their place in the semifinals of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night and the Blues played well in that 1-1 tie with Newcastle. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men put a lot into that contest and the penalty shootout victory wasn’t without a cost. Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill both limped off the field at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night and the Blues will be depleted on Sunday’s trip to Wolves.
Gary O’Neil’s men have lost just 2 of their 9 games at Molineux in all competitions this season and they have beaten high-flying Spurs and Manchester City at home. Brighton and Liverpool are the only teams to have won at Wolves this season and O’Neil’s men are unlikely to allow Chelsea to be added to that list.
