The SEC is without question 1 of the 3 best conferences in college basketball this season, and arguably the very best. Whatever the case, this week’s SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee should be wildly entertaining. At least 3 teams (Auburn, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt) are on the bubble, so they have their work cut on for them in an attempt to make the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Alabama is the #1 seed in the conference and is hoping to secure the same for the Big Dance.
Let’s take a look at the SEC Tournament odds and the best bets to be made.

SEC Tournament odds to win
Alabama (+150) is a sizable favorite to take home the title from Nashville. However, the Crimson Tide have plenty of challengers with 3 other teams having a realistic shot at cutting down the nets. Tennessee (+300), Kentucky (+450) and Texas A&M (+500) are all bona fide contenders, while Auburn and Arkansas (both +1200) cannot be discounted.
Here is the full list of outright odds:
Alabama +150
Tennessee +300
Kentucky +450
Texas A&M +500
Auburn +1200
Arkansas +1200
Missouri +2500
Vanderbilt +4000
Mississippi State +5000
Florida +10000
Georgia +50000
Ole Miss +50000
South Carolina +80000
LSU +100000
Best bet: Texas A&M Aggies +550
Texas A&M’s basketball team is basically the opposite of its football program. The football team gets a lot of hype and produces very few results; on the hardwood, the Aggies garner little to no attention but quietly rack up win after win. I wouldn’t be surprised if they pick up 3 more wins in Nashville, which would be enough to lift the trophy since they have a double-bye to the quarterfinals as the #2 seed.
On the opposite side of the bracket from both Alabama and Tennessee, the path is relatively clear for Texas A&M. Can head coach Buzz Williams’ squad capitalize? Absolutely. It went 15-3 in the conference and has won 8 of its last 9 games, a stretch that includes victories over Tennessee and Alabama (the latter via a 67-61 decision this past Saturday). Wade Taylor IV (16.3 ppg) has led the Aggies in scoring in 7 of the last 8 contests and has scored more than 20 points 6 times during this hot stretch. He is capable of leading his team to the conference title.

Best longshot play: Missouri Tigers +2500
There is no need to overthink this play. It’s simple. Missouri is the #4 seed in the tournament and has a double-bye to the quarterfinals. When you only have to win 3 games to cut down the nets, you have a chance – a better than +2500 chance, to be clear. The Tigers are surging into Nashville on a 4-game winning streak, their longest of the season since starting 9-0 at the expense of mid-major puffcake opponents. Teams that are playing their best basketball in March are always the ones to back. At huge odds, I’ll happily back Missouri as a longshot.
