Let’s break down each of these plays.
MLB pick today: Cleveland Guardians ML over Tampa Bay Rays (-115), 12:07 pm ET
Although it has been only one game, the Rays already have their back to the wall. It won’t get any easier today against Triston McKenzie, who had an excellent third season in the MLB. He surged after the all-star break as his ERA dipped to 2.70, and when he faced the Rays at the end of September, he was lights out. He allowed 1 run and 3 hits along with 6 strikeouts in 6 innings as the Guardians went on to win 2-1. The Rays on the other hand, will have a short leash on Tyler Glasnow, but it won’t change the fact that the Tampa Bay offense looked terrible in Game 1 and may not be able to give their starter the run support he needs. This series should be over in 2 games, so back the Guardians for the win.

EPL pick today: Brighton & Hove Albion ML over Tottenham Hotspur (+160), 12:30 pm ET
It is difficult to have much faith in Tottenham, particularly after their disappointing performance in losing 3-1 at Arsenal last week. That was the latest in a series of poor Spurs away showings. They needed a last-minute goal to earn a point at Chelsea, limped over the line to win at Nottingham Forest, were second-best for most of their tie at West Ham and were dismal in the Champions League at Sporting Lisbon before their loss at the Emirates and Tuesday’s goalless game at Eintracht Frankfurt. Tottenham may have been flattered by getting to October without suffering a Premier League loss, so backing Brighton to win will be the play.

NHL pick today: Nashville Predators ML over San Jose Sharks (-180), 2:05 pm ET
The 2022 NHL Global Series continues with the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks playing their second game of a back-to-back. The Predators, who are gunning for another playoff push, are a much better team than the Sharks. Up and down the lineup, the Predators outmatch their opponent — especially up front, where guys like Matt Duchene, Filip Forsberg and Mikael Granlund continue to lead the way. Not to mention that they boast one of the league’s best defenseman in Roman Josi. For that reason, backing the Predators to win looks to be the best option this afternoon.

College Football pick today: UCLA Bruins +3 over Utah Utes (-105), 3:30 pm ET
Utah may be a little overvalued, especially when you look at last week’s win over Oregon State. Utah was outgained by the Beavers, gave up more first downs and benefited from 4 Oregon State turnovers — including a pick-6. In fact, the Utes’ offense hasn’t scored more than 35 points in a game this season except against FCS Southern Utah. UCLA will likely take away the best thing that Utah does, which is run the football. UCLA is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games as a home ‘dog, therefore backing them to cover looks to be the best play this afternoon.
