These teams are both facing unexpected situations as they head into Week 3 of the NFL season. For the 49ers, it’s going back to former starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after his planned successor, Trey Lance, suffered a season-ending injury last week. San Francisco rallied under Jimmy G to beat the Seahawks last week after being upset by the Bears in atrocious conditions in Week 1.
For the Broncos, the problem is they simply haven’t looked anywhere near as good as anyone expected this season. Pressure is already building on new head coach Nathaniel Hackett after his team lot to the Seahawks and again failed to impress despite beating the Texans. A win on Sunday would do both teams the power of good, so let’s take a look at the odds for the game.

San Francisco 49ers vs Denver Broncos expert picks
We’ve got some great NFL picks for this week’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos, including spread, total and player prop selections.
Against the spread pick: Broncos +1.5 (-110) over 49ers
The Broncos are 0-2 against the spread and their offense is struggling but they still make some appeal as home underdogs in this game. Jimmy Garoppolo led the 49ers past the Seahawks 27-7 last week but road teams struggle with the altitude in Denver early in the season and the Seattle team they beat last week are not great. It might be too soon to write off Broncos QB Russell Wilson and the offensive weapons he has at his disposal.

Over/Under totals pick: Under 44.5 points (-110)
Points may be scarce in this game as the 49ers defense is loaded with talent in the front 7 and has allowed the fewest passing yards per game through the first 2 weeks of the season. Wilson has won 10 of his last 11 games against them but is still getting used to his new offense in Denver.
The 49ers’ offense beat up on Seattle but they remain unproven against better defenses and will have had to rethink their scheme this week having planned all offseason to have Lance under center. The under has hit in all 4 games for these teams this year and that trend could continue.
49ers vs Broncos prop bet pick: Javonte Williams (Broncos) – Over 49.5 rushing yards (-110)
The Broncos are getting offensive linemen Quinn Meinerz and Billy Turner back in their lineup for this game, which is good news for running back Javonte Williams, who’s already averaging 5 yards per carry this season. The 49ers could be shorthanded up front too. Williams out-touched Melvin Gordon 15 to 10 in Week 2 and is much better than his veteran teammate in the passing game. Williams can break big runs (17 yards was his best last week) and the 49ers’ defense will still need to respect Russell Wilson in the passing game. Take Williams to have at least a half-century of rushing yards on Sunday.
