The MLB week continues with a 10-game slate on Thursday, including the start of a 4-game series between the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers. I have cashed SGPs at +481, +632 and +439 odds, and now I’m going for the big one with today’s at HUGE +1400 odds. Let’s get into my Royals vs Tigers Same Game Parlay picks for their matchup at 6:40 pm ET on FS1. Also, don’t forget to check out all of our MLB picks for Thursday’s slate.
Royals ML (+124)
Under 8 (-110)
Mikael Garcia to record an RBI (+240)
Royals vs Tigers Same Game Parlay odds: +1400
Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as KC designated hitter Mikael Garcia driving in a run would obviously work well with a Royals win. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with also hammering the under. But even if Garcia delivers, there is no reason why the under can’t cash. Let’s break down all of the SGP legs.

Kansas City Royals ML over Detroit Tigers (+124)
Neither team is playing particularly well at the moment, making Thursday’s contest a borderline tossup on paper. As such, I will happily roll with the Royals as considerable underdogs. Michael Lorenzen is starting for the visitors and he is sporting a 3.71 ERA through 3 appearances with 14 strikeouts compared to just 4 walks in 17.0 innings. Detroit is countering with Reese Olson, who is saddled with a 6.00 ERA and 1.67 WHIP after 3 outings, plus he has a modest 13-to-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Several players in Kansas City’s lineup have enjoyed plenty of success against Olson in the past, so this should be a favorable matchup for them. Let’s go with KC to earn a minor upset.

Under 8 (-110)
The Tigers’ bats are ice-cold at the moment. They have scored 1 run or fewer in 3 of the last 4 games. Meanwhile, the Royals just got swept in 3 straight games by the Yankees, crossing the plate a grand total of 6 times. Kansas City has scored no more than 3 runs in 7 of its last 8 contests, and the only exception during this stretch is a 4-run performance. This has all the makings of a low-scoring affair.
Mikael Garcia to record an RBI (+240)
Garcia is 3-for-10 lifetime against Olson with a home run, so this is a matchup he clearly likes. The 25-year-old Venezuelan is in decent enough form so far this season, too (.267 batting average with 2 homers and 9 RBIs). Three of his RBIs have come in the past 6 outings. It should also be noted that Garcia bats behind Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez in the lineup, so he often steps to the plate with guys on base. At odds that are longer than they should be, Garcia has great value to drive in a run and bring home our Royals vs Tigers Same Game Parlay at +1400 odds.
