The time has come once again where college football fans all over the globe are ready to kick off another season – Welcome to the beginning of a new College Football campaign. On Saturday, August 31st the first week of college football picks will begin as Pickswise, the home of free College Football Picks dives into the winning picks of Portland State Vikings vs. Arkansas Razorbacks.
Against The Spread Pick
The Arkansas Razorbacks went 2-10 overall last season and 0-8 in the ACC, but it is not entirely bad news for them at least when it comes to this opener against the Portland State Vikings. Arkansas won twice against lesser competition in 2o18, blasting Eastern Illinois 55-20 to get things started under head coach Chad Morris before shutting out Tulsa 23-0 in October. The Razorbacks will have a new quarterback, but that may not be a bad thing because they averaged a mere 21.7 points per game last season and finished in the bottom 10 of the FBS in turnover margin. Either senior transfer Ben Hicks –whom Morris coached while at SMU–or junior Nick Starkel will take over the reins. Portland State, meanwhile, is an FCS team that lost its final three games of the 2018 campaign to finish 4-7. One of those losses was a 74-23 drubbing at the hands of Eastern Washington. The Vikings can prepare themselves to be on the wrong end of another route, this time at the hands of ARKANSAS.
Over Under Pick
Arkansas linebacker De’Jon Harris led the SEC in tackles in the regular season with 118 in 2018 and seems to be fully recovered from offseason foot surgery. The Razorbacks are expecting big things from defensive McTelvin Agim after he led the team with 10 tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hurries, and three forced fumbles in 2018. This could be a long day at the office for Portland State’s offense. Look for this one to stay UNDER the total.
