The NBA is into February with the All-star break coming up here is a look at the week 17 Pickswise NBA Power Rankings. Some risers and fallers in this week’s rankings.
1. Golden State Warriors
The Warriors remain atop the power rankings, after a 2-1 week with a home loss against the 76ers.
2. Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks got easy wins over Detroit and Toronto before beating the Wizards on Saturday. The Bucks continues to look impressive.
3. Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets have won six straight games, including going 4-0 in week 16, and has recaught the Warriors for the best record in the West.
4. Toronto Raptors
Trade Rumors may be growing, but Toronto is still holding steady in the top five of our power rankings, even after a 1-1 week.
5. Boston Celtics
The Celtics are into the top five of our power rankings, after a strong 4-0 week. They have won nine of their last 10 games.
6. Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder are holding steady at number six after a 2-1 week. They had won seven straight before Sunday’s loss against the Celtics.
7. Philadelphia 76ers
The 76ers have a quick start to week 17 with a game against Toronto. The 76ers may have had the best win last week when they got a road win at Golden State.
8. Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers had only one game in week 16 and they got a W. They added Rodney Hood in a trade with Cleveland.
9. San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs are back in the top 10 after going 3-0 in week 16. It gets harder with four straight road games this week.
10. Houston Rockets
The Rockets are trending down, after going 1-2, but don’t let that fool you, as James Harden continues to look unstoppable offensively.
11. Utah Jazz
The Jazz was on a hot streak winning nine of ten before going 1-2 in week 16.
12. Brooklyn Nets
The Nets were climbing higher and higher in the power rankings, but are holding steady after a 1-2 week.
13. Indiana Pacers
The Pacers will have to come up with answers as they continue to struggle without Victor Oladipo. The Pacers went 1-3 last week.
14. Sacramento Kings
The Kings are trending up after a 2-0 week. Four games at home this week for Sacramento.
15. Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers currently sit 8th in the western conference, and after a 1-3 week are trending down.
16. Los Angeles Lakers
The Anthony Davis trade discussions plus a fight for the final playoff spot has the Lakers near a breaking point.
17. Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets are trending back up after a solid 3-1 week.
18. Minnesota Timberwolves
The T-Wolves are in the hunt with the Clippers, Lakers, and Kings for the final spot in the West. A 1-1 week is promising.
19. Dallas Mavericks
Luka Doncic and the Mavs had a solid week going 2-1.
20. Miami Heat
It wasn’t a good week at all for Miami as they went 0-3.
21. Washington Wizards
The Wizards put up a good fight against the Bucks on Saturday and went 1-2 during the week. They are holding steady, but the John Wall injury news continues to plague Washington.
22. Detroit Pistons
The Pistons make a jump in the right direction after going 1-2 and starting this week with a win over the red-hot Nuggets. With back to back games against New York, the Pistons need to finish up strong before the All-star break.
23. Orlando Magic
It was a solid 2-1 week for Orlando, they seem to be trending in the right direction.
24. New Orleans Pelicans
It’s all up in shambles in New Orleans with the trade deadline approaching. They also went 1-2 last week.
25. Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta is trending in the right direction after a 2-2 week.
26. Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizz continue to slip in the rankings now hitting a season-low 26th. Memphis is coming off a 1-3 week.
27. Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs may have had its best week going 2-1.
28. Phoenix Suns
It was a tough 0-2 week for Phoenix.
29. Chicago Bulls
The Bulls remain steady at number 29 after a 1-2 week.
30. New York Knicks
It looks like the Knicks are set to shut it down and play for the number one pick. Especially after their major trade of Porzingis to Dallas. A 0-4 week helps with their chances.
