Against the spread pick: Bears +9 (-110) over Eagles
There is no sign of Justin Fields on Chicago’s injury report, so he is clearly good to go. The Bears average more than 210 rushing yards per home game this season and with Fields back in action they will continue to be extremely dangerous on the ground. Meanwhile, the Eagles are allowing more than 130 rushing yards per game when they are on the road. They have faced only 1 mobile quarterback similar to Fields in 2022 (Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals), so this is a kind of matchup with which the defense does not have a ton of experience. Philly is just 2-4 ATS on the road this year and with a look-ahead battle against Dallas on the horizon another closer-than-expected contest may be in the cards. Nine points is a lot, and the thinking here is that those are points worth taking.

It should also be noted that the Bears are coming off a bye week, which is all the more reason to back them against the spread and to expect Fields healing up and leading a capable offense. Although Chicago has lost 6 in a row, 3 straight games during this storm stretch came by no more than 3 points. Those scores were 35-32, 31-30 and 27-24. For the most part the Bears are being competitive with their offense. Meanwhile, the Eagles are averaging more than 40 points over their last 3 outings and Jalen Hurts is playing at an MVP level. The over is 7-1 in Philly’s last 8 overall and 7-0 in Chicago’s last 7 overall, so we see no reason to waver from that path.
