There aren’t many teams in the NFL with higher expectations this season than the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles enter the 2023 campaign recovering from the sting of blowing a double-digit lead in the Super Bowl to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, that loss didn’t stop the franchise from making smart moves, as Philadelphia had an excellent draft, bolstering what was already one of the best rosters in the league. Factor in the weak NFC they play in and it’s hard not to envision the Eagles as Super Bowl contenders.

Philadelphia Eagles 2022 season recap
The 2022 campaign was almost a magical one for Philadelphia, going 14-3 on the season and rolling through the NFC playoffs en route to its first conference title in 5 seasons. The Eagles were short favorites in the Super Bowl against a hobbled Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, but ultimately they lost a double-digit lead in the second half as a second Super Bowl slipped through their fingers.
Philadelphia Eagles 2023 NFL season predictions
As the odds indicate, the Eagles are the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl — which also makes them the favorites in the NFC East. This is a team that did lose its defensive coordinator in the offseason, but the might be a bit of addition by subtraction for Philadelphia. With Jalen Hurts poised to have an MVP-like season, this team could be right back in another Super Bowl next February, Yes, the Super Bowl hangover is real but it’s hard to imagine the Eagles massively underperforming given how their schedule shapes up to open the season. Here are couple of my Eagles predictions for the upcoming season.
Best bet: Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl (+800)
This isn’t an original pick, but the Eagles are among the Super Bowl favorites for a reason. They have been gradually getting better in each of the last few seasons, with their recent Super Bowl run marking a new high in Jalen Hurts’ young career. And if the Eagles ended up winning that instant classic against Kansas City in the Super Bowl last February, they likely would have been favored to take home the title once again when the odds took shape this summer. With another year of postseason experience under their belt and a bad taste in their mouths following what was a demoralizing Super Bowl exit, the Eagles should play with a serious chip on their shoulder in 2023.
One massive leg up that the Eagles have compared to a number of AFC teams is the general weakness of the NFC. Not only does Philadelphia return the bulk of its offense that was so productive a season ago, the Eagles have much more talent than the majority of the conference. Philadelphia is projected to be favored in at least 12 of their 17 games this season, and they should be able to establish an early lead over fellow challengers for the #1 seed, thanks in large part to a very manageable schedule to open the season. If the NFC title is to run through Philadelphia, it’s tough to imagine a team this complete on both sides losing a playoff game on its home field.
Philadelphia Eagles season record predictions
As I indicated above, I see value on the Eagles to win the Super Bowl in 2023. However, it might not be the easiest regular season for Philadelphia given that the Eagles have a difficult back end of the schedule. With that being said, I’ve still got the Eagles finishing with a record of 11-6 and winning the NFC East over the Dallas Cowboys. This should also be enough to get Philadelphia the top seed in the NFC, as I forecast some regression looming for the San Francisco 49ers, plus a highly competitive divisional race in the NFC North.
