For all the mistakes the NFL has made in prime time matchups in hindsight, they’ve really lucked out for Week 7 Sunday Night Football. The New York Jets (-1.5) are heading to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in a pivotal AFC matchup. At the forefront of this matchup is Davante Adams debut as a Jet after being traded from the Las Vegas Raiders earlier in the week.
After a gut check loss to the Bills on Monday Night Football, the Jets pulled the trigger on Adams, furthering their push to go all-in on the season. To add additional intrigue to this matchup, Mike Tomlin has decided to start Russell Wilson for the first time this season after Justin Fields started 4-2. The move has caused a stir within Steeler Nation and it’s certainly questionable to start him against one of the league’s better defenses. Let’s dive in!

I’m going to zag on the idea that Davante Adams walks in and immediately steals the show in his first week in New York. Garrett Wilson’s reception line on a normal week is heavily juiced at 5.5, so we’re getting a discount with the public hype around Adams. I believe that Wilson’s role will now be exclusively in the slot, where the originally imagined him heading into the season with Lazard and Williams on the perimeter. We saw Wilson being used more in pre-snap motion last week in Todd Downey’s first week as play caller and I like that to continue on Sunday night. This is a 1u play from me.
