We are now very deep into the season with Week 14 kicking off on Thursday Night Football between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions (-3.5) in a crunch NFC North matchup. The Lions won their Week 9 matchup at Lambeau Field 24-14 and key injuries on the Green Bay side of the ball could make it a season sweep for Detroit. The Packers should be without CB Jaire Alexander, CB Corey Ballentine and WR Romeo Doubs. For the Lions, they could be missing DT DJ Reader, DE Joshua Paschal and DE Levi Onwuzurike. At this point in the season, everyone is hobbled and both teams are looking for guys to step up. Currently, the Lions sit atop the NFC playoff picture at 11-1 and the Packers are in the 6th seed at 9-3.

Sam LaPorta is starting to round into playoff shape over the last few weeks. The Lions tight end is coming off a 2-touchdown performance despite only having 3 receptions for 6 yards. The Packers represent a weaker matchup than he’s seen recently, with Green Bay allowing the 7th-most receiving yards to opposing TEs this season. He’s hit this in 2 of 3 games against Green Bay in his career and has the 3rd-best tight end matchup of the week according to PFF. The Packers have allowed a TE to hit this line in 3 straight weeks and we’re getting a good number due to a slow start since returning from injury, but I love this as a breakout spot for LaPorta. 1u
