Now it’s time to turn our attention to Week 8. This slate is another exciting one, with plenty of intriguing matchups. The opening lines were released at most sportsbooks on Sunday, so let’s take a look at the odds and give our first impressions.

Best early bets for NCAAF Week 8

UCLA +6 (-110) vs Oregon

With both of these teams coming off a bye, this line seems mispriced. UCLA has been absolutely stellar on offense this season, as the Bruins are fresh off big wins over Washington and Utah in which they put up over 40 points in each contest. On the other side, the Oregon offense has been just as potent, with the Ducks scoring 40+ points in each of their last 5 games. This game could easily come down to which team has the ball last. With that in mind, I think UCLA getting 6 points is borderline disrespectful considering what Dorian Thompson-Robinson and company have done of late. I like the Bruins at anything over 4.

Kansas State +5.5 (-110) vs TCU

This is a really difficult spot for TCU, as the Horned Frogs are in the midst of a tough stretch of games. TCU managed to survive games against Kansas and Oklahoma State and now have to host a rested Kansas State team coming off a bye week. The Wildcats are the exact type of team that can take advantage of TCU’s poor defense while also controlling the clock via their ground attack. Adrian Martinez and Deuce Vaughn are a nightmare for opposing defenses to play against and I expect them to have more success on Saturday. This line should be closer to a field goal, so I like the visitors at this number.

LSU +2.5 (-110) vs Ole Miss

This game is shaping up to be a pivotal clash in the SEC West. LSU went on the road and knocked off Florida on Saturday, while Ole Miss stayed hot with a win over Auburn. The Rebels are in contention for the division crown, while LSU is playing some of its best football of late. This is one where home field could make a serious difference. The Rebels’ biggest games this season have come at home, while a trip to death valley could prove to be a rude awakening for a team that’s been largely untested. My early lean is that LSU wins this one outright.
