Best early bets for NCAAF Week 7

Penn State +7 (-110) over Michigan

This line has a ton of value at 7 points or better, as the market is still overrating Michigan in my eyes. This Wolverines defense is solid, but is still not the same pass rush as a season ago. Furthermore, true freshman quarterback J.J. McCarthy has yet to face a quality opponent in his first season as a starter. This Penn State defense is a much tougher opponent for an offense that is stuck in the mud, especially through the air. Penn State has not historically faired well in Ann Arbor, but this year could finally be where the Nittany Lions break through.

TCU -2.5 (-110) over Oklahoma State

This could be one of the premier games in the Big 12 this season. Oklahoma State needed some second-half heroics to survive against Texas Tech, while TCU won a thriller against Kansas in a showcase of two stellar offenses. Max Duggan is playing as well as any quarterback in the nation and the Horned Frogs have weapons all over the field. While this isn’t the perfect spot for TCU, I’ll gladly take another opportunity to back this Horned Frogs team that is absolutely rolling. Look for TCU’s offense to stay hot against an Oklahoma State defense that is vulnerable against the pass.

San Jose State -5 (-110) over Fresno State

San Jose State is one of the more underrated teams in the Group of 5 this season. The Spartans are absolutely mauling teams in the trenches, especially on the defensive side of the ball. That momentum continued into this past weekend, as San Jose State rolled through UNLV with a 33-point victory. Now the Spartans will face a reeling Fresno State team that looks lost without starting quarterback Jake Haener. Even on the road, this line should be over a touchdown. Back San Jose State to stay hot as it looks for a Mountain West title.
