I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Florida Panthers ML over Edmonton Oilers (-135)

If there’s one leg of our Oilers vs Panthers Same Game Parlay picks that is the most difficult to predict, there is no doubt that it’s simply the winner of Game 5. Despite the Panthers having a comfortable 3-1 lead, they’re also the ones coming off a loss, and a huge one at that as Edmonton crushed them 8-1. The Oilers have been the better team for several periods throughout this series. However, a trip back to Florida was expected no matter what, whether for a Game 5 or for a parade.

This is also a Panthers team that was just in this spot a season ago, as they lost the Stanley Cup Final to the Vegas Golden Knights in 5 games. As exciting as it would be to see Connor McDavid finally hoist the Cup, this is still his first trip here, and his team may need more experience to fully bounce back from a 3-0 deficit. It’s been done once in NHL history — in 1942 — but we’re predicting that Florida can close things out on home ice to start our Oilers vs Panthers Same Game Parlay.

Over 5.5 goals (-105)

What has been coming around in the way we anticipated is a high-scoring series. After 7 goals were scored in Game 3, we saw 9 on Saturday night. It certainly didn’t take long for the scoring to start either, as 4 of those goals were scored in the first period. Even with both teams not putting on their best power plays, it simply hasn’t seemed to matter. Edmonton scored the first goal of the game, and it was a short-handed one by Mattias Janmark.

With their other 2 goals in the first period coming from Adam Henrique and Dylan Holloway, it demonstrates that their role players are stepping up alongside the superstars in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. With the Panthers heading back home, that is to be expected from their role players as well. That ties in perfectly with the final leg of our Oilers vs Panthers Same Game Parlay picks after adding in a high-scoring game.

Sam Bennett over 0.5 points (+105)

Depending on how you view secondary skaters, Sam Bennett may be a more well-known name than one to be considered a role player. However, as you can see, getting plus-money odds just for him to record a point of any kind still means that he isn’t in the league of the likes of Aleksander Barkov or Matthew Tkachuk. Even still, he’s been one of the best skaters for Florida this postseason — perhaps the unsung hero of sorts.

He’s also been drawing penalties for the Panthers, which only leads to more likely scoring opportunities. Given that we expect plenty of them in tonight’s Game 5, we’re predicting that Bennett will be a part of at least one of them. After all, he had a point in each of the first 3 games of the series, so we look for that success to continue back in Florida. Let’s wrap up our Oilers vs Panthers Same Game Parlay picks by backing Bennett to record a point.
