Baseball is back and ESPN is bringing us the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies to celebrate! The Phillies drew first blood in this series last night but the Mets didn’t go down easy. One way to get in on the action tonight is with a same game parlay. They’re fun and bettors can correlate outcomes. We will go over four options for tonight’s matchup in this article.
Let’s take a look at the best options for this showdown and don’t forget to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.
New York Mets -1.5 (+114)
Brandon Nimmo to record 1+ hit (-240)
Marcus Stroman over 5.5 strikeouts (+118)
Mets/Phillies under 9 (-110)
Parlay odds: +928
New York Mets -1.5 (+114)
The Mets had their issues at the plate last night but that is something a date with Chase Anderson can’t fix. Anderson had a rough spring giving up 5 earned runs in his last 7.2 innings pitched. The current Mets have not seen much of Anderson but a couple have had success against him. Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto have both gone yard off of Anderson with Conforto doing it three different times in only 13 at bats. The Mets should be able to hit
Brandon Nimmo to record 1+ hit (-240)
Brandon Nimmo has had a hit in each of his last three games going back to the spring. He loves right handed pitching and he’s getting some tonight. Last season he hit .311 in 165 plate appearances against right-handers. He collected 42 hits along the way. In his career against Anderson, he has three hits in six at bats including a home run. It’s a small sample size, but it’s all we have. Given his recent form, he should get a hit tonight.
Marcus Stroman over 5.5 strikeouts (+118)
Marcus Stroman isn’t exactly a power guy but he struck out 60 batters in only 59.2 innings pitched with the Mets. Getting to face opposing pitchers is a benefit and Stroman seemed to take advantage. Tonight, he has a pitcher’s favorite in umpire DJ Rayburn behind the plate so that gives a slight bump to Stroman. H struck out 13 in his last 13 innings of work so there’s no reason to think he can’t get six Phillies tonight if he can make it six innings.
Mets/Phillies under 9 (-110)
Anderson should give up some runs and Stroman could as well. He gave up earned runs in each of his last four starts dating back to spring and never went more than five innings in any of them. Spring stats are spring stats but they do hold some predictive value. Stroman could easily give up a couple runs but this game should still go under nine..
