The NHL schedule is not a big one, but four games give us enough to work with as we try to formulate a winning mega parlay. And what the slate lacks in quantity, it certainly makes up for in quality. All 8 team in action boast winning records: the Wild, Jets, Panthers, Hurricanes, Ducks, Flames, Avalanche, and Golden Knights. Florida (32-10-5) versus Carolina (32-11-3) is a potential Eastern Conference Finals preview, while the same can be said of Colorado (34-8-4) vs Vegas (28-17-3) in the West.

Let’s take a look at our 3-team mega parlay for Wednesday’s festivities.

Wild -1.5 (+175)

Hurricanes -1.5 (+200)

Flames 3-way ML (-115)

Parlay odds: +1442

For this parlay we are going with three favorites – two on the puck line and one on a 3-way money line. Let’s break down the three legs one by one.

Wild -1.5 over Jets (+175)

The Wild make a rare 1-game road trip on Wednesday when they play the Jets. These two teams just faced each other last week, resulting in a 2-0 victory for the Jets. Since that game, however, the Wild have swept a 2-game home-stand — scoring 10 goals in those 2. Winnipeg, on the other hand, has gone 1-1-1 with a home loss to the Blackhawks on Monday. Offensively, the edge goes to the Wild based on their ability to finish their scoring chances. The Jets actually apply better pressure than the Wild — ranking 11th in expected goals for while the Wild rank 16th — but the gap in actual production is massive. The Jets rank 22nd in goals per game; the Wild rank 3rd. Defensively, the small advantage goes to Minnesota because of how well projected starter Cam Talbot has played of late. The Wild rank 2nd in expected goals against, whereas the Jets rank 25th. Look for Minnesota to prevail by multiple goals on Wednesday.

Hurricanes -1.5 over Panthers (+200)

Two of the league’s best teams meet in Raleigh on Wednesday as the Carolina Hurricanes host the Florida Panthers. Given the fact that the Panthers have not played in more than 2 weeks, the Hurricanes should be able to secure a victory on home ice. Carolina has already played 4 tough games since the all-star break. The ‘Canes have dropped 3 of those games, but all of those were by a single goal and a couple of them came against strong teams on the road in Toronto and Minnesota. Now the Hurricanes get to play at home, where they sport a 16-4-1 record this season and have dominated offensively — ranking 6th in goals per game and accumulating the 6th-most high-danger scoring chances. Carolina also ranks 1st in goals against per game and will send out goalie Frederick Anderson, who leads the league in goals saved above expected. The Panthers rank just 18th in goals against per game and are much more reliant on a high-scoring offense to pull out wins. While this strategy has been successful for Florida this season, coming back from a 2-week long layoff to face a well-balanced team in Carolina on its home ice following some tough losses doesn’t bode well for the Panthers.

Flames 3-way ML over Ducks (-115)

Calgary played last night and put on a dominant performance against the Blue Jackets. The Flames are 9-1 in their last 10 games and winners of 7 in a row. Jacob Markstrom should be in goal tonight and he has been elite all season. Calgary is 2nd in the league in goals against per games and 8th in goals per game. This team boasts a ton of depth in the lineup and will likely dictate the pace of the game from start to finish on all 4 lines. Anaheim has a good team, but the only area in which it really excels is the power play. Even with Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras skating for the Ducks, Calgary is just too solid in goal and on the blue line to give them any space to operate. Calgary should be able to win this game in regulation thanks to its elite defense and high-powered offense.
