After a huge first night back, things are a bit more calm with tonight’s 5-game slate. However, that’s more than enough opportunity for us to piece together our favorite plays for a mega parlay. With so many teams in action last night, that creates several situations with teams on the second night of a back-to-back. Those spots have helped us cash mega parlays in the past, so let’s take advantage of them again tonight.

Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out our NHL picks for today’s action.

New Jersey Devils 3-way ML (+155) over Boston Bruins

Betting against the Bruins this season has not been ideal in most situations. However, neither has betting against the Devils. Until recently, these were the top 2 teams in the Eastern Conference. While the Carolina Hurricanes have made a recent surge, these are still 2 of the best teams in the NHL. They met just prior to the long holiday weekend, and as expected, it was a great matchup. The Bruins snuck away with the close 4-3 win, but were not as sound as they generally have been.

They scored all of their goals in the 2nd period, as the Devils defense continued to be strong. That’s been the calling card for both of these teams, but New Jersey should have the slight advantage in that department tonight specifically. The Bruins will be the ones on the second night of a back-to-back. Although they’ll be back in Boston, they were up in Ottawa for last night’s contest. It’s clear they’re taking this matchup more seriously as they’re saving starting goaltender Linus Ullmark for this game, but a rested Devils team can ruin Boston’s return home.

Detroit Red Wings vs Pittsburgh Penguins – Over 6.5 (+100)

For the Red Wings fans out there, you’re lucky fully aware of why Detroit addressed their goaltending during the offseason. They allowed the 2nd-most goals per game last season, and the Penguins certainly play a significant role in that. Pittsburgh has won the last two meetings between these teams by final scores of 7-2 and 11-2. While the Wings goaltending has certainly improved with Vile Husso in net, we aren’t asking for another 13-goal game. In that same vein, we aren’t expecting another blowout by the Pens, as they’ll be in a similar situation as the Bruins, returning home after being on the road just last night.

With that in mind, both Detroit and Pittsburgh should find the back of the net early and often tonight. The Wings have struggled much more on the road, allowing the 8th-most goals away from home. They’ve also allowed 3.29 goals per game over the last month, and with the Pens being the 7th-highest scoring team, they can certainly exploit that. Detroit should be able to contribute, with Pittsburgh having backup goalie Casey DeSmith in net for this matchup. He’s certainly not the league’s worst backup goaltender, but it should only take a couple from the Wings to get over the total.

Calgary Flames vs Seattle Kraken – Over 6 (-110)

It’s not often we have multiple totals in our mega parlay, but that’s the case for tonight’s action. We again have another team on the second night of a back-to-back. This time it will be the Flames leaving their home arena in Calgary and heading down to Seattle. There’s no doubt the Kraken are a formidable opponent this season, but their goaltending has significantly fallen off as of late. Over the last month, Seattle has allowed 3.86 goals per game, the 4th-most in the NHL in that time frame.

Even prior to that, the Flames were able to score 4 goals on the Kraken. Similarly, Seattle put up 5 goals on Calgary to win that matchup. Rather than sweating out another 1-goal game, we’re going to trust them to keep up the goal-scoring. The Kraken can certainly do that same, given that the Flames had starting goalie Jacob Markstrom in net for their game on Tuesday night. The 5 goals that Seattle scored against Calgary earlier in the year was indeed against backup Dan Vladar. That’s who they’ll face tonight, so we’ll back another high-scoring affair.

Don’t miss out on our NHL player props for tonight’s action!
