NHL Wednesday mega parlay (+848 odds): Avs to roll at home

Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche celebrates a goal.

There are only 4 games on the NHL slate for tonight, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun. We’re putting together a mega parlay at +848 odds that should spice up the action. Along with this parlay, be sure to check out all of our game previews for each matchup tonight. You can also follow Pickswise on Twitter for daily betting content covering all sports.

Let’s get to it.

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+128)

Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+118)

St. Louis Blues vs Los Angeles Kings under 5.5 (-110)

Parlay odds: +848

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+128) over Columbus Blue Jackets

The Colorado Avalanche are slowly but surely finding their footing early in this NHL season. They come into tonight at a mediocre 4-4-0, but are fresh off back-to-back wins against the division-leading St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild. The line of Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon and for now Andre Burakovsky has been sensational of late, accounting for 4 of the team’s last 8 scores. They should have a lot more room to operate against a Columbus team that will struggle to match the talent of Colorado.

The Blue Jackets to their credit have been competitive to this point. They are 5-3-0 and are getting contributions from all over their team, but the key for them is playing at home. Columbus at home is 4-1-0 but they are on the road heading to the Rocky Mountains tonight. As the away side it’s a different story for the Jackets as they are 1-2-0 and have managed to score only 2 total goals over those 3 games. Colorado has what it takes to win this one by multiple goals.

Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+118) over Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators are playing in Edmonton tonight on the second half of a back-to-back. That is already a tough challenge, but doing so against a highflying Oilers team is even more difficult. A bright spot for Nashville, and ultimately the reason they are a .500 team right now, has been goaltender Juuse Saros. Saros is posting a solid .922 save percentage so far this season and has allowed 3 goals or fewer in 7 of his first 8 starts. However, he started in net last night against Calgary, and it is unlikely that he will be in between the pipes tonight.

Scoring 3 or more goals in 7 out of 8 games this year, the Oilers are outscoring their opponents at an alarming rate.  Leader and star Connor McDavid has managed to rack up at least 1 point or more in every single game. To compliment the offense, the Oilers are getting outstanding goaltending from both Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen.  Smith is expected to return for this matchup and in 3 starts this year he is posting a .920 save percentage. Nashville has struggled with consistency this season, so look for Edmonton to be too much to handle in this matchup.

St. Louis Blues vs Los Angeles Kings under 5.5 (-110)

Fewer than 6 goals were scored in 3 of the Kings’ last 4 contests, including a game against the Blues. St. Louis has been among the best teams in the league at limiting the number of goals they give up, allowing just 2.14 goals per game, which is sixth-best in the league. St Louis has been fantastic at killing penalties, as they have successfully killed off 91.3% of their opponents’ man-advantages.  That is the second-best mark in the league. Six or fewer goals have been scored in 2 of their last 3 games. This could be another low-scoring affair.
