NHL Wednesday mega parlay (+782 odds): High-scoring games continue

Connor McDavid celebrates his 100th point of the regular season for Edmonton.

NHL action has returned, and after a smaller slate of 3 games on Tuesday, we get a bigger slate of 6 games on Wednesday night. We are putting together a 3-leg mega parlay for tonight’s action, and it is paying out north of 7/1 odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. Along with this parlay, don’t forget to check out our full game previews for all 6 matchups. You can also follow Pickswise on Twitter for plenty of betting content covering all sports.

Now let’s get to it.

Capitals -1.5 (+154)

Oilers/Blues over 6 (-122)

Canucks/Ducks over 5.5 (-110)

Parlay odds: +782

Washington Capitals -1.5 (+154) over Nashville Predators

The Washington Capitals currently hold the third-best record in the entire league, and they have been great on their home ice. The Caps are 9-3-4 at Capital One Arena, and Alex Ovechkin continues to post elite numbers. The ageless wonder has 47 points (22 goals, 25 assists) through 31 games so far this season. He leads a well-rounded offensive attack that is capable of doing some serious damage. Washington is also strong in net, as Ilya Samsonov is projected to be between the pipes tonight. He is 11-2-2 with a strong 2.64 GAA and .910 save percentage on the year. Overall, the Caps seem to be in good shape leading up to this matchup.

Oilers/Blues over 6 (-122)

Both Edmonton and St. Louis score over 3 goals per game on average. The Oilers rank 6th in the NHL in goals for per game with 3.41, while the Blues rank 7th in the same category with 3.36 goals per game. The Blues are better in goal prevention, but neither team particularly excels in that category. The Blues let up 2.68 goals per game, while the Oilers rank 21st allowing 3.10 goals per game. They both have a good penalty kill but even better power plays. For the high-level metrics, both Edmonton and St. Louis’ offensive strengths outweigh their defensive strengths. This game should look similar to their first meeting that hit 9 total goals.

Canucks/Ducks over 5.5 (-110)

Players coming off of a long break often need time to shake off rust and re-acclimate themselves, which often leads to sloppy turnovers, suspect goaltending and lots of goals. This was evident last night, as the over went 3-0 in the NHL’s first night back from the break. The game totals ended up at 9 goals for 2 of the games and an absurd 15 in the Coyotes vs Sharks contest. The Canucks have rediscovered their scoring touch under head coach Bruce Boudreau, scoring 4 or more goals in the 6 games under his leadership. The Ducks have an excellent power play that’s humming at 26.7 percent, which is good for the 5th-best mark in the league. In the first game back after a brief hiatus for both teams, expect some fireworks and take the over.
