Friday afternoon was the official trade deadline and Saturday featured exciting hockey all day. Now we have a rather chill Sunday, but there are still plenty of opportunities for profit — with 5 games on the board, including the first puck drop between 2 powerhouses in the Eastern Conference. I have targeted that game and need just 1 other play to hit for you to cash an incredible payout. There’s afternoon action yet again, so let’s dive right in.

Tampa Bay Lightning 3-way ML (+205) over Carolina Hurricanes
The Lightning and Hurricanes are both natural disaster-themed team names, but they have more than just that in common. They entered the season expected to be 2 of the best in the Eastern Conference, and they have delivered. Carolina leads the Metro Division, while Tampa Bay is looking to make it 4 straight Stanley Cup Final appearances. Admittedly, the Lightning have not had a great week.
However, this is providing us a great buy-low spot on an experienced veteran squad. The Bolts have dropped 4 straight games now, but the likes of Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos are not leaders that will allow that to affect this team. One of the primary reasons for Saturday’s loss was backup goalie Brian Elliott in net. That was to have all-world goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy ready for this all-important game. Carolina will also be just returning home from its time out west in Vegas and Arizona. It’s tough backing a team on a back-to-back, especially against the Hurricanes, but the value is just too high with a great Lightning squad.
Detroit Red Wings ML & Under 6.5 (+230) over Philadelphia Flyers
I mentioned that we only need 2 plays to hit for this NHL mega parlay, and that’s because I have found significant value once again with 2 more Eastern Conference teams. Rather than being 2 of the best, the Red Wings and Flyers are 2 at the bottom. However, Detroit has proven to be far improved from last season. The Wings also recently extended Dylan Larkin with an 8-year contract, boosting the morale of this team.
Like the Lightning, the Red Wings used their backup goaltender in net on Saturday. That was likely because they knew that they had a much greater chance to take down a weak Flyers team rather than the New York Islanders. Vile Husso may not be ready to return, but Philly is simply not a great offensive threat. The Flyers haven’t scored more than 2 goals in 4 straight games now, including a shutout loss last Saturday. When these teams met earlier this season, there were just 3 total goals scored. It’s true that Detroit still needs to perform better than it did in the last few games, but it did recently go on a 5-game winning streak and won 7 of 8. That included victories over the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers, so the Red Wings can handle the Flyers.
