The second round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs started last night, and it did not disappoint. We had upsets in both matchups as the night started with the Florida Panthers following their win against the Boston Bruins by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs. In the Western Conference clash, we had a thrilling back-and-forth matchup that saw the Seattle Kraken upset the Dallas Stars after overtime. We expect exciting games again tonight, especially in the Pacific Division rivalry. With that in mind, we have an Oilers vs Golden Knights Same Game Parlay for the nightcap.

Along with our Oilers vs Golden Knights Same Game Parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Edmonton Oilers -1.5 (+202)

With the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche now eliminated, the Oilers should be excited about their path. They were already the favorites to win the Western Conference entering the postseason, so those chances have only increased. The odds would suggest we’re in for quite a close contest tonight, however, I anticipate Edmonton will be able to showcase their superstar talent in Game 1.

The Knights were the only team to get through the first round in just 5 games. Extra rest is welcomed, but it can also cause rust at a certain point. They’ve had their inconsistencies throughout the year, and the Oilers have the star power to exploit that. Edmonton won 3 of the 4 games between these teams this season, with the most recent being a 3-goal victory. Even in their loss, Vegas needed overtime to pull out the victory. It feels like this could be the Oilers year, and I’ll trust them to start out this series with a win.

Over 5.5 goals (-192)

When it comes to Edmonton, goals are virtually always on the menu. They ended the year as the highest-scoring team in the league. That’s no surprise given that Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were the top 2 point-scorers in the NHL. In the most recent matchup between these squads, the Oilers came away with a 7-4 win. Each of the other 3 matchups ended with 7 goals, so we’re confident that we’ll see at least 6 in Game 1.

The Oilers were able to have such a potent offense by having a historically good power-play unit and they ended the year at 32.4%, which was over 6% higher than any other team. However, the primary reason that Edmonton hasn’t been to a Stanley Cup Final despite having McDavid is poor goaltending. Stuart Skinner is indeed getting more comfortable, but Jack Eichel and the Knights can still find the back of the net a couple of times to help tonight’s game get over this alternate total.

Connor McDavid to score a goal (+100)

There’s no shock to the final leg of our Oilers vs Golden Knights Same Game Parlay. Connor McDavid is no doubt the primary reason the Oilers are favorites to come out of the Western Conference each year. He took that to the next level this season. There’s almost no question that he’ll be winning the Hart Trophy for the league’s MVP.

He certainly earned the award with the first 150-point season since 1995-96, and in doing so, he also led the league with 64 goals. McDavid racks up his assists as well, but he also has multi-point games more often than not. He admitted in an interview earlier in the year that he was intentionally shooting more this season. It’s rather rare to see this listed at even money, so we’re getting great value in that regard. Coming off a game in which McDavid scored to eliminate the Los Angeles Kings, we’ll trust that success to continue.
