Rangers vs Hurricanes Same Game Parlay (3/12)
Hurricanes ML (-162)
Under 6 goals (-130)
Mika Zibanejad over 2.5 shots on goal (+140)
NHL parlay odds: +587
Carolina Hurricanes ML over New York Rangers (-162)
I’m starting this off by simply taking Carolina to win the game. This is just the straight money line, so we don’t need the Hurricanes to win by multiple goals and we don’t even mind if the game goes to overtime. New York was just on the ice last night for starters, and to make things even more difficult for this team it will be on the road this time around. Carolina is already one of the most difficult places to play, and with North Carolina having just launched legal online sports betting yesterday, you can be sure that the crowd will be into this one.
Regardless, the Hurricanes were arguably the biggest winners of the trade deadline — adding both Jake Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins and Evgeny Kuznetsov from the Washington Capitals. Those are 2 top-line skaters now on a team that already features Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov. In other words, the Hurricanes are much more balanced.

Under 6 goals (-130)
While Carolina is indeed much more balanced now, it is still a defensive-focused team. Over the past 3 seasons the Hurricanes have been in the top 7 in terms of fewest goals allowed per game, and the same can be said for the Rangers. Therefore, hearing that the first matchup between these teams this season was a 2-1 Carolina win should come as no surprise. Although New York was just on the ice last night, I’m not concerned.
That’s because they saved Igor Shesterkin for this matchup, and he has been back in his Vezina Trophy-winning form since the all-star break. Carolina goaltender Frederik Andersen has also been standing on his head as of late, and the team hasn’t allowed more than 2 goals in any of their last 3 games. Lastly, in the previous 4 meetings between these teams only once has there been more than 5 goals scored.
Mika Zibanejad Over 2.5 shots on goal (+140)
This leg is by far the most valuable, and frankly the most baffling line. I already mentioned Zibanejad, and he is going to wrap things up. Last night he officially made it seven straight seasons with at least 20 goals, and now we are getting him at plus money just to take 3 shots on goal.
Z is just the 5th Ranger in franchise history to pull off that feat, and while he hasn’t been as much of a volume shooter this season as years past, he clearly has a fantastic shot. Admittedly, the Hurricanes aren’t the best matchup in the league, but after coming off a great night just 24 hours prior, I expect him to try and ride that momentum. That’s without even mentioning that he had 7 shots on goal just last night! Even if he doesn’t find the back of the net with any of them, I’m still expecting at least 3 shots on goal.
