We got the new year started off right by hitting our +1002 NHL mega parlay last night. Now let’s roll part of that over into a day that features arguably the most exciting game of the season — the NHL Winter Classic. Not only is the outdoor game the featured matchup of the year. It’s between 2 excellent teams this season, so be sure to check out our Penguins vs Bruins Same Game Parlay. As for another big winner involving the other games on the board tonight as well, let’s dive in. Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs Boston Bruins – Over 6 (-120)

With the NHL Winter Classic being featured today, there’s no way we couldn’t get things started there. The Bruins are hosting the Pens outdoors at Fenway Park in what should be a thrilling rivalry game. Rather than sweating out a winner, we’re focused on the total. This has actually been listed at 6.5 on some sportsbooks, so be sure to shop for the best number. Regardless, these teams have met already this season and combined for 11 goals.

They scored 5 goals in the 2nd period alone, and both sides have the talent to replicate that performance. Boston’s David Pastrnak is a true sniper, while the Penguins’ Sidney Crosby is adding to his Hall of Fame resume. Sure, the Bruins have been elite in terms of goaltending. However, they’re not invincible. They just lost their most recent game on home ice by allowing 4 goals to the Buffalo Sabres. Even if we don’t get another 11-goal game, we barely need more than half of that to hit this play.

Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+160) over Vegas Golden Knights

This season started out with the Knights looking like the best team in hockey, while the Avs did not look like the defending Stanley Cup champions. However, Colorado welcomed back Nathan MacKinnon in their most recent game after several weeks without the superstar. Meanwhile, Vegas will remain without Jack Eichel and Jonathan Marchessault, among others. They snuck away with a home win in overtime their last time on the ice, but lost their previous 2 games, both of which were on the road.

One of those was to the Anaheim Ducks, and now they’ll be back on the road again tonight. Even when the Knights took on the Avs at home this season, they still lost that game. Although it was a 1-goal matchup, Colorado has always looked better at home. That may be hard to see given their recent loss, but that was to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have allowed the 2nd-fewest goals per game in the NHL this season. The Knights are certainly no chopped liver when it comes to that, but with the Avs getting healthier, they can prove that they still have the talent for a deep postseason run.

Anaheim Ducks ML (+100) over Philadelphia Flyers

That’s right, we’re wrapping things up with the Ducks. We’ve backed them just one other time this season with a +200 3-way money line, and they came through. Are they a great team? Absolutely not. However, we can pick our spots with them, and that’s exactly what we’re doing here. This is the final game of the Flyers’ west-coast road trip after being in Los Angeles and San Jose for their last 2 games.

Therefore, this could very much be a type of get-away game for them. One could argue that’s how the Ducks steal many of their wins, from teams that have to travel out to California. While they lost their most recent game, Anaheim did come out of the Christmas weekend with that aforementioned win over the Golden Knights. It’s also not as if Philly is exactly flying high. Even after winning their last 2 games, they still have just 13 wins in comparison to the Ducks’ 10. This game may not live up to the NHL Winter Classic, but we can still make it a profitable one.
