Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. The entire NHL was off yesterday and enjoyed NFL Sunday with the rest of us. However, it’s time to get back on track and hit another mega parlay. We’ve got a solid 9-game slate and plenty of spots to target. We’ve broken down the matchups and come up with the 3 best spots for an incredible potential payout. Before we dive in, be sure to check out our NHL picks for today’s action.

Arizona Coyotes vs Toronto Maple Leafs – Over 6.5 (-125)

Let’s get things started with a total tonight rather than a side. First and foremost, this is the most lopsided matchup on the board and that shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, that was the case when these teams met last season and things did not go well for the home favorite as the Coyotes pulled off the biggest upset of the season at around this same price. Worst yet for the Leafs faithful, they lost both of their games to Arizona last season.

Therefore, we’re going to target the total instead as there were 9 goals scored in the most recent meeting. Toronto has always received a lot of criticism for their early postseason exits due to their goaltending. Their solution was to sign Matt Murray in the offseason, and they ended up losing their season opener as massive favorites against the Canadiens. It was also recently announced that Murray will be missing significant time due to an adductor injury, which helps this play even more. As for Arizona, they were just a part of a 9-goal game on the road against the Bruins, so expect that trend to continue tonight.

New York Rangers -1.5 (+126) over Anaheim Ducks

Now let’s get into some side predictions where we believe teams can come away with some big wins. The Rangers are fresh off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance and wasted no time starting up right where they left off.

New York began their season taking down the Tampa Bay Lightning by multiple goals, which was the team that beat them in the postseason to reach the Stanley Cup Finals last season. The Rangers followed that by going on the road and spoiling the Minnesota Wild’s season opener by taking them down 7-3. They fell the following night on a road back-to-back but they’ll be back at home with rest for this game. Meanwhile, the Ducks were also a part of a game in which a team scored 7 goals. However, they were on the wrong end of a 7-1 thrashing by the New York Islanders. It’s safe to say this east coast road trip is not off to a strong start for Anaheim. If the Rangers can take down the Lightning and Wild by multiple goals, the Ducks should sink just as easily.

Pittsburgh Penguins -1.5 (+110) over Montreal Canadiens

We’re going to wrap things up with another big mismatch but with a favorite that is much more trustworthy. Unlike the Maple Leafs, the Penguins tend to come through when they are supposed to. This is one of those cases, as they are the clearly superior team in this matchup.

While Toronto has gotten upset by the lowly Coyotes, Pittsburgh opened up their season by defeating them 6-2. More impressively, their last time on the ice was a win by the same score against the Lightning. Similarly to the Rangers, if they can take down Tampa by several goals, the Canadiens should not be a problem. Montreal has lost its last 2 games by multiple goals, including a 3-0 shutout loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Other than their upset over the Leafs, ironically enough, in their season opener, they look just as weak as last season. The Canadiens allowed the most goals per game in the NHL last year and made no goaltending changes over the offseason. Therefore, expect Sidney Crosby to add to his league-leading 6 points and help the Pens cruise to a convincing victory.
