In a tournament comprising of just 7 total games, we are already nearly a third of the way through the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off. Thus far, it has delivered. Team Canada won a thrilling tournament opening game in overtime, then Team USA capitalized on a big third period to run away with its game against Finland. Now, both 1-0 with Team USA having a 1-point advantage over Team Canada, this excellent rivalry features its latest edition on Saturday night in Montreal.

While this already should be a phenomenal game, you may be looking to have added skin in this game with a bet or 2. If so, we’re here for you. Let’s dive into a parlay we like, while you can also find our NHL picks for every game.

Canada ML (-112)

With respect to Team Finland, Team USA did not quite face the adversity that Team Canada faced in their opening game. Canada is already battle-tested in this tournament and will be prepared to make a statement against a USA Hockey program that has had a ton of success lately.

The Canadians are incredibly talented, but they also have several intangibles on their side. They have the chip on their shoulder from the U.S. closing the hockey gap, they have an electric home crowd in this one, and they may not be in the driver’s seat. If Sweden beats Finland in regulation, there would be loads of pressure on Canada. Sweden would have 4 points; Canada would have 2. So a regulation win for Canada would be huge, regardless. This is a talented, experienced team that should get the job done.

Under 6.5 (-130)

Team Canada held Team Sweden to just 20 shots on goal through regulation. Team USA held Team Finland to 21 total shots on goal. If both teams can flex that containment of opposing superstars, this game has a great chance to stay under. Add in the Connor Hellebuyck factor for the Americans and there is even more appeal.

In the last few years in international hockey, Hockey Canada and USA Hockey have trended in opposite directions. There is a real rivalry between these global hockey powerhouses. In this tournament, among a few strengths, the Americans showed their ability to play physical but controlled. This will likely be a physical game which takes away space from even the best players. The pure matchup bodes well for the under.

Connor McDavid anytime goal scorer (+210)

Picking any Connor McDavid prop never exactly feels like going out on a limb. But it feels reliable and for good reason. The guy has tallied over 100 points in 7 of his 9 complete seasons in the NHL, one of which was a shortened season due to the pandemic.

McDavid is arguably the best player in the world and had a somewhat unceremonious opening tournament game. He recorded an assist and was -1 with a giveaway. This is a once in a generation talent playing in a big game with great line-mates and looking to make a statement. A McDavid goal would not be remotely surprising.
