Week 9 is here! It began with a very interesting Thursday Night Football matchup between the Houston Texans and New York Jets, but don’t worry, there will be a lot more excitement on Sunday. I’ve crafted a 3-leg parlay that pays out at over 10/1 odds that features two teams on the money line and one team on an alternate spread, so let’s jump right into it!
Browns ML (+102)
Cowboys ML (+148)
Commanders alternate line -6.5 (+130)
Parlay odds: +1052
Cleveland Browns ML (+102) over Los Angeles Chargers
Are the Browns better without Deshaun Watson? It certainly looked like it in Week 8! Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 7 which put the team in the hands of Jameis Winston. The former Buccaneers quarterback had been a backup in New Orleans for the last few seasons but ended up with the Browns this year and will now get another chance as a QB1. He started his first game last week against a strong Ravens defense and Winston didn’t seem rusty at all. He threw for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns which snapped Baltimore’s 5-game win streak and ended Cleveland’s 5-game losing streak.
With Winston under center and Nick Chubb coming back from an injury, this could be the perfect time for the Browns to turn their season around. It won’t be easy against an elite Chargers defense in Week 9, but the Browns certainly have the better offense. Justin Herbert’s receiving corps is now led by the rookie Ladd McConkey which has become very obvious in the last few weeks. If the Browns can limit JK Dobbins on the ground and keep McConkey out of the end zone, I like Cleveland’s chances of an underdog win.
Dallas Cowboys ML (+148) over Atlanta Falcons
The Cowboys have to turn their season around at some point… right? Dallas dropped to 3-4 after a Week 8 loss to the 49ers which sparked a lot of talk about Dak Prescott’s future as QB1 in Dallas. If there was ever a time to quiet those doubters and turn the Cowboys season around, it’s right now. Their Week 9 matchup takes them on the road to Atlanta to face Kirk Cousins and the Falcons. Cousins has led the Falcons to a 5-3 record and a big reason for their successful season has been their offense. Bijan Robinson has been elite on the ground while Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Darnell Mooney have been fantastic in the passing attack. Atlanta’s only issue has been their defense, which is allowing over 24 points per game. The Falcons even allowed 26 points to the Bucs last week who were missing Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. This could be a very high-scoring game, but that’s where the Cowboys thrive.
Washington Commanders -6.5 (+130) over New York Giants
I had to rub my eyes and double check that this spread was right. The Commanders are favored by only 3.5 points against Daniel Jones and the Giants on Sunday afternoon. I expected the spread to be closer to a touchdown, so I’ll happily take an alternate line at fantastic value to reach that number. Jayden Daniels played through an injury in Week 8 and still threw for over 300 yards which obviously included his incredible hail mary to win the game as time expired. But even before that, Daniels was having success on the ground and through the air while Brian Robinson Jr. continues to be fantastic in the backfield.
While the Commanders are surging and gaining more momentum every week, the Giants just lost their 6th game of the season and discussed the possibility of benching Daniel Jones. The New York offense has been a disaster as Jones has thrown for just 6 touchdowns to go along with 5 interceptions. He has excellent talent around him with Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson as receiving options, but connecting with those two stars has been an issue. I’m expecting another statement win from the Commanders in Week 9.
