Las Vegas Raiders ML over Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+230)
Let’s start with the longshot for our NFL parlay. The Raiders nearly knocked off the Chiefs in Arrowhead last week and have been listed as 6.5-point underdogs in Tampa Bay this weekend. That doesn’t make much sense to me. Week 13 was Aidan O’Connell’s first time under center since Gardner Minshew suffered an injury and he looked fantastic against an elite Kansas City defense. He threw for 340 yards, 2 touchdowns and only took 3 sacks. He also led the Raiders downfield late in the 4th quarter and into field goal range for the potential game-winning field goal, but miscommunication on a snap resulted in a fumble that the Chiefs recovered. The Chiefs got lucky, and I think if the Raiders won that game, they would be more like 3.5-point underdogs this week.
Bucky Irving has blossomed into a star for the Bucs. The rookie running back has formed an excellent offensive group made up of Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans and Cade Otton. However, the Bucs’ defense has been a big problem lately. They nearly lost to the Panthers in overtime last week but got lucky several different times in crucial spots. I’m still confident that the Bucs will score 20+ points, but with how well O’Connell connected with Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers last week, I think the Raiders are a dangerous dark horse in Week 14.

New York Giants ML over New Orleans Saints (+176)
It’s been a pretty disappointing season for both teams. The Saints started 2-0, but they lost Derek Carr not long after and New Orleans has lost 8 of their 10 games since. Alvin Kamara is still having a phenomenal season as usual, but the problems have come in the receiving corps. In the last few weeks, the Saints have lost Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed and Taysom Hill. That’s left Carr with Juwan Johnson and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as his top 2 options. Carr has been limited with what he can do through the air with the majority of his targets on the sideline and that has resulted in the Saints offense going through a skid.
Drew Lock made his first start of the season last week on Thanksgiving. He finished 21 of 32 for 178 yards and was also the team’s leading rusher with 57 yards and a touchdown on 4 carries. Tyrone Tracy Jr. didn’t have much of an impact on offense last week, but I’m expecting that to change against a Saints defense that is allowing the 7th-most rushing yards per game. Also, it was clear that Lock had a game plan to get Malik Nabers involved. The rookie receiver had 8 catches on 13 targets and started to develop some chemistry with Lock. The bottom line is that the Giants’ offense is much healthier right now and should be able to take advantage of all of New Orleans’ injuries.

Los Angeles Chargers +3.5 over Kansas City Chiefs (-104)
To conclude this week’s NFL parlay, we have the Chargers covering a small spread against the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. To be blunt, the Chargers played terribly last week and somehow still got the win. They managed only 187 total yards compared to Atlanta’s 350, but the defense bailed the offense out. Justin Herbert and the offense failed to find the end zone which was unlike them, considering the amount of young weapons at Herbert’s disposal. But a win is a win and the Chargers improved to 8-4 entering Week 14. Their next opponent will be the Chiefs at Arrowhead which is never easy, yet the Chargers are only 3.5-point underdogs. That shows the amount of respect the oddsmakers have for the Chargers potential… and the lack of faith in the Chiefs.
Surprise surprise, the Chiefs won again last week. With that said, it wasn’t a normal win. A fluke miscommunication with just seconds left ruined the Raiders’ chance of a game-winning field goal. Let’s just take a look back at some of the wins the Chiefs had in November: beat the Buccaneers (without Mike Evans) in overtime, blocked the Broncos’ game-winning field goal, survived the Panthers’ second-half comeback and won by 3 points, and then beat the Raiders in a fluke ending. The bottom line is that the Chiefs have been extremely lucky, but what goes up must come down. I think the Chargers’ young and dangerous offense combined with an elite defense will be enough to keep this game very close.
