The meat in the Thanksgiving Day NFL sandwich is the NFC East battle between the dynamic Dallas Cowboys and the wobbling Washington Commanders. The Cowboys are double-digit favorites, but one of their 3 losses this season came when they were 12-point favorites against the Cardinals in Week 3, so nothing can be ruled out. Facing them is a Commanders team who have lost 7 of their last 9 games after a 2-0 start, and who turned in an awful result in Week 11 with a 31-19 loss to the Giants, who had been crushed 49-17 by Dallas in their previous game.
I have put together a 3-leg Commanders vs Cowboys Same Game Parlay that would provide a payout at +1100 odds with DraftKings Sportsbook at the time of publishing. You can check out the full game preview in our Week 12 NFL predictions, but now let’s take a look at my Commanders vs Cowboys Same Game Parlay for Thursday’s 4:30 pm ET matchup.
Over 49 points (-108)
Brandin Cooks anytime TD scorer (+180)
Terry McLaurin anytime TD scorer (+290)
Same Game Parlay odds: +1100
Over 49 points (-108)
As my colleague Chris Farley explains in making the over a 3-star play in our Commanders vs Cowboys predictions, this has all the makings of a high-scoring contest. The Cowboys have the potential to score early and extremely often with their high-powered offense against a defense that just gave up 246 passing yards and 3 touchdowns to Tommy DeVito of the Giants. The Cowboys have scored 125 points in their last 3 games that weren’t against the Eagles (although they still scored a respectable 23 in that game), but they just love feasting on weak defenses, and Washington’s currently ranks 29th in yards allowed per game.
The Cowboys are averaging 40 points per game at home and their game totals have averaged 52.5 points at AT&T Stadium. With the Commanders having the potential to put up points themselves, even if it takes until the leftovers are being polished off in garbage time of a blowout, the over looks a solid way to start this parlay.
Brandin Cooks anytime TD scorer (+180)
Brandin Cooks has become a bigger part of the Dallas offense than might have seemed likely during the slow start to his time with Dallas, but he has now found the end zone in 3 of the Cowboys’ last 5 games and has already scored more TDs than in any of his 3 seasons with the Houston Texans. With Dak Prescott having fired off 13 TD passes in his last 4 games, the opportunities should be there for Cooks to roast a secondary that couldn’t even cope with the tame offense of the Giants.
Cooks had a huge game the last time the Cowboys played at home, catching 9 of the 10 passes that came his way for 173 yards and a touchdown. With WR1 CeeDee Lamb having picked up an ankle injury last week, the team may well be in a position to end his afternoon early if things are going well, giving Cooks more targets late in the game if he hasn’t scored by then.
Terry McLaurin anytime TD scorer (+290)
The Washington offense ranks 12th overall in the NFL and 10th in passing yards per game, it’s just that their output is not leading to wins due to their 29th-ranked defense. Lead running back Brian Robinson is having a great season personally, while Terry McLaurin is again their leading receiver and he looks capable of reaching the end zone at some point, even if it’s likely to be in a losing effort.
McLaurin has 23 more targets this season than any other Washington receiver and is overdue to return to the end zone having scored only twice this season, most recently against the Eagles 4 weeks ago. The Cowboys gave up a late score to Sterling Shepherd of the Giants in their blowout win 2 weeks ago, while Eagles receiving duo AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith both got on the scoresheet against Dallas the week before that, so the opportunities should be there for the Commanders’ top receiver.
