Week 15 kicks off in Washington as the San Francisco 49ers take on the Seattle Seahawks. After holding a lead in the NFC West, the Seahawks have been leapfrogged by the 49ers. It’s Brock Purdy’s time in San Francisco, and the rookie quarterback has surpassed all expectations through the first 2 weeks. However, this is his biggest test to date as divisional games hold extra importance this late in this season.

San Francisco 49ers -6.5 (+155) over Seattle Seahawks
Mr. Irrelevant has become very relevant in San Francisco. Purdy took over in Week 13 when Jimmy Garoppolo went down and shined in the opportunity. He was 25 of 37 for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Miami defense and then looked like a bona fide star against the Tampa Bay defense in Week 14. Purdy out-dueled Tom Brady in the 49ers’ 35-7 win as he went 16 of 21 for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns. The rookie quarterback looks like a veteran in the pocket and has been incredibly accurate in his short time in the NFL. As for the Seahawks, Geno Smith has shown immense negative regression since his excellent start to the season. Seattle has lost 3 of their last 4 games, with its only win coming against the Rams — who are just 4-9. The Niners are surging at the right time and should win big on Thursday Night Football.

Tyler Lockett to score a touchdown (+205)
Tyler Lockett has scored a touchdown in 6 straight games. Seattle’s deep threat has been a favorite target of Smith’s this season and has played a big part in their offense recently. In the last 6 weeks, Lockett has averaged 7.67 targets, 5 receptions and 71.33 yards per game. San Francisco has a solid secondary that should make life difficult on Smith, but all it takes is a few deep passes to Lockett to make it 7 straight games with a touchdown. I anticipate the Niners’ defensive line to make it difficult on Kenneth Walker III and the Seattle backs, which means the Seahawks could resort to heavy usage of the passing game. Lockett has exceptional value to score considering he’s done it in 6 consecutive weeks, so I’ll back the Seattle veteran to make it 7 against the 49ers.

The 49ers have held opposing quarterbacks under this line in all 6 of their away games this season. In fact, the San Francisco defense is allowing 211.8 passing yards per game (12th), but that number decreases to 174 yards (1st) when on the road. Only Baker Mayfield and Colt McCoy have thrown for more than 200 yards against the 49ers’ defense this season, and neither quarterback eclipsed 220 yards. Smith faced the 49ers in their Week 2 loss and managed to throw only 197 yards — more than 50 yards below this line. The Niners have allowed 17 points or fewer in 6 straight weeks, and that’s no surprise considering San Francisco ranks 1st in points allowed at home and on the road. Oddsmakers don’t expect a high-scoring game and that starts with Smith having a rough passing day.
