NFL Teaser Picks Week 10: Best NFL teaser bets, odds and strategies this week

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs (15) throws a pass against the Atlanta Falcons in the second half at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Some of the most popular types of NFL bets include the classic straight bet, a parlay, a player prop and a game total. However, have you heard of a teaser? It’s like a parlay in the sense that you’re combining 2 teams, but you get to change the spread or total in your favor. At most sportsbooks, a 2-team, 6-point teaser will have odds of -120; if it doesn’t, be sure to shop around for the best price.

Let’s get into this week’s best NFL teaser, but make sure you check out our NFL Week 10 picks on the side and total for every game this week.

NFL Teaser Strategies

There is a certain strategy when putting your teaser together. That includes being aware of the key numbers: 3, 6 and 7. Those are the most common winning margins in an NFL game. So, when taking a teaser, you ideally want to be lower than 3 and higher than 7. For example, if a heavy favorite is -8.5 on the spread, I can tease them down 6 points through all 3 key numbers to -2.5. That’s an excellent teaser choice since the team can now win by 3, 6 and 7 and the teaser would win.

On the other side, taking an underdog through those key numbers is also just as valuable. If a team is a +1.5 underdog, you could tease them up 6 points to +7.5, and then that allows them to win or lose by the 3 key numbers and you would still win. There’s also the option to tease game totals in the NFL, but with how quickly and sporadic scores can happen, I tend to stay away from totals and stick to spreads. It can be fun hunting for the best teaser options each week, so let’s get into some of my teaser contenders for Week 10, and then my favorite teaser option for the Sunday.

NFL Week 10 Teaser Options

The dogs were barking in Week 9, and my teaser was a smashing success. I teased the Commanders and Bills, who were both short underdogs, to above a touchdown, and it was a relatively sweat-free win. In fact, the Commanders won outright, so who needs the points? Plus, of the 5 teaser candidates that I gave out last week, 4 of them won. So, let’s carry that momentum into Week 10. Here are my favorite teaser candidates for Sunday.

  1. Vikings +9 (from +3)
  2. Texans +12.5 (from +6.5)
  3. Raiders +7 (from +1)
  4. Commanders +12.5 (from +6.5)
  5. Browns +12.5 (from +6.5)

Week 10 is the week of the underdogs. Well, maybe not to win, but to cover the massive teaser spreads. All of my teaser candidates on Sunday include taking an underdog and teasing their spread above a touchdown, which was a very successful strategy in Week 9. For the Vikings and Texans, I’m all in on Joshua Dobbs and CJ Stroud. Both quarterbacks dazzled in their own ways in Week 9, and I’m expecting more of the same on Sunday. Plus, if Dobbs actually knows his receiver’s names this week, who knows what his potential could be?

The last three legs are very similar. Those teams don’t have the best offenses but found a way to win in Week 9. It’s a new era in Las Vegas as Josh McDaniels is gone and Jimmy Garoppolo has been benched, and vibes had never been higher after the Raiders’ Week 9 win over the Giants. They were smoking cigars in the locker room after the win! In Week 10, the Raiders will take on the other disappointing New York team in Las Vegas, and I’ll happily take Las Vegas to cover at least a touchdown.

As for the Commanders and Browns, both teams won in Week 9 and displayed a lot of potential. In Week 10, Washington has a difficult matchup against the Seahawks, but the Ravens just exploited numerous flaws in Seattle’s defense in Week 9. Plus, the Browns held the Cardinals scoreless in Week 9, and if Cleveland’s defense is on its game again on Sunday, there’s no reason this divisional matchup can’t be a one-score game.

NFL Week 10 Teaser Best Bet

Just like last week, my favorite teaser includes two underdogs with a spread above a touchdown.

Vikings +9
Texans +12.5

As I said earlier, I’m all in on Joshua Dobbs and CJ Stroud. Dobbs had the best first impression a player could ask for as he entered a game he wasn’t supposed to play in and led his new team to a win without knowing any of the play calls. Dobbs did all this against a Falcons defense that has a top-10 secondary in football, so it was even more impressive that he led Minnesota to a comeback win. Scoring points against a Saints team won’t be easy, but the New Orleans defense has allowed 22 points per game in the last 4 weeks and looked vulnerable against a poor Bears offense last week. I’ll gladly take the points with Minnesota in this spot.

CJ Stroud had one of the best rookie quarterback performances in Week 9. The former Ohio State star threw for 470 yards, breaking a rookie record, and found the end zone 5 times in Houston’s shootout win against the Buccaneers. It’s clear that Stroud has been the best rookie in the class thus far, and Week 10 might be his toughest matchup yet against Joe Burrow and the Bengals. And while I expect Burrow to outduel Stroud, it’s hard to expect the Bengals to win by 2 touchdowns or more against a surging Texans team. My best guess is for a Cincinnati win between 6 and 10 points, which would cover Houston’s +12.5 spread.
