Sunday Night Football in Week 15 of the NFL season is an intriguing NFC showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks. Both teams are currently heading for the playoffs; Green Bay is well positioned for wild-card spot, while Seattle leads the NFC West.
Here is my Same Game Parlay for the festivities, which get underway at 8:20 pm ET on NBC. Also be sure to check out our full Packers vs Seahawks predictions.
Packers -2.5 (-115)
Josh Jacobs to score a touchdown (-185)
Geno Smith to record 275+ passing yards (+185)
Parlay odds: +575
Part of the value in a Same Game Parlay, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Green Bay running back Josh Jacobs finding the endzone would obviously work well with a win and cover by the Packers. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Seattle quarterback Geno Smith to rack up plenty of passing yards. But even if Smith does, there is no reason why Green Bay can’t take care of business. Let’s break down each of the 3 legs.
Packers -2.5 (-115)
The Packers have been playing great football basically the whole way in 2024 and are showing no signs of slowing down. They are 3-1 record in their last 4 games, with their only loss during this stretch coming on the road via a 34-31 decision against the high-powered Detroit Lions. Head coach Matt LaFleur’s crew is also 7-2 in its last 9. Yes, Seattle is also playing well — but in general it has taken advantage of lowly opposition that has been unable to get out of their own way. The Seahawks’ offense is somewhat 1-dimensional, as the running game has been a disappointment more often that not over the past 4 weeks. Can Geno Smith do it all? He can do a lot, but maybe not enough against a solid Packers defense. The bottom line is that Green Bay is simply a more well-rounded club. It is top 10 in the league in opponent points per game, yards per play and yards per rush. Give me the visitors to prevail by at least a field goal on Thursday Night Football.
Josh Jacobs to score a touchdown (-185)
Jacobs has been contained a bit in recent weeks from a yardage perspective, but for the most part he has been a stats machine in 2024 – especially with touchdowns. The Alabama product has scored 12 TDs (11 rushing, 1 receiving) including 8 in the last 4 games after finding the endzone 3 times against the Lions in Week 14. In fact, Jacobs boasts a pair of 3-TD performances in the last 3 outings. There is no reason to think that the 26-year-old will slow down against Seattle. The Seahawks are #21 in the league against the run (126.5 yards per game) and are yielding the eighth-most yards per attempt (4.7) while surrendering 10 scores on the ground. Count on Jacobs extending his touchdown streak to 5 games.
Geno Smith to record 275+ passing yards (+185)
This doesn’t really conflict with a Green Bay win and cover, as a negative game script for Seattle would force Smith to hit the airwaves. It’s something the Seahawks will probably have to do, anyway, since their running game has underwhelmed. In 3 of their last 4 games they haven’t had a running back gain more than 54 yards. Smith has not exactly been lighting up the box score, himself, although recent numbers of 221, 254, 206 and 233 yards are consistently solid. The West Virginia product has thrown for at least 312 yards on 4 occasions this season. He now faces a Packers defense that is decent but unspectacular against the pass (222.2 yards per game, 7.2 yards per attempt). I’m backing Smith to have a big night at the office.
