Detroit Lions -13.5 (+285) over Seattle Seahawks
This isn’t just a revenge game, it’s a double revenge game. Not only did the Seahawks beat the Lions in Detroit last year, but they also took the final spot in the NFC playoffs from them (thanks to some questionable officiating in their Week 18 game that Detroit no doubt remembers). The Lions picked up a statement victory in last Thursday night’s season opener against the Chiefs, and now they’ve had several extra days of prep to prepare for a reeling Seahawks team.
Sure, Kansas City didn’t have Travis Kelce or Chris Jones when the Lions beat them, but I don’t care. Winning on the road in primetime at Arrowhead is a next to impossible feat, and it’s undeniably impressive no matter who was suiting up. As long as Patrick Mahomes was playing, there’s no asterisk.
I’m low on the Seahawks overall this year, and they seemed like a prime candidate for some regression after their surprise playoff berth in 2022. Last week they were sizable favorites against the Rams, and they got smoked at home by a shorthanded Los Angeles team that was without Cooper Kupp.

Under 42.5 alt total (+186)
If the Lions are going to be much better than they were last year, which appears to be the case, it’s going to be because of their defense. Last week they held Mahomes to just 5.8 yards per attempt as he barely managed to complete 50% of his passes. It was one of Mahomes’ worst performances in recent memory, and the Lions also shut down both Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the ground as neither topped 23 yards.
Geno Smith was a great story last year, but it’s hard to capture lightning in a bottle twice. It sure looked like the magic had worn off last week, as Smith mustered just 112 yards in the loss to the Rams. In the second half, Seattle had 5 possessions, and they didn’t gain more than 10 yards on any of them. The floor for their offense is going to be low this year, which makes the alt total make a lot of sense. Something like a 28-14 final here is all we need to cash this at nearly 10/1.
