To Make the NFL Playoffs best bet: Cleveland Browns (+148)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
It blows my mind how low the market is on the Cleveland Browns. Last season, they went 11-6 despite losing their starting quarterback and running back, among a whole host of other issues they had to deal with. Now, they should have Deshaun Watson ready to go after looking promising in preseason, while Nick Chubb will hopefully be back by the end of September. Even then, Jerome Ford proved that he was capable of getting it done in Chubb’s absence. Ken Dorsey should be an upgrade from Alex Van Pelt as offensive coordinator, and the addition of Jerry Jeudy to Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore gives this receiving corps tons of potential. Meanwhile, the Browns boasted one of the most ferocious defenses in the league last season and there’s no reason to expect any sort of decline.
Of course, the Browns face a tough division as they have to navigate the Ravens, Bengals and Steelers, but Cleveland is more than capable of holding its own against those opponents. Kevin Stefanski has consistently gotten results from this team no matter what hardships come their way, and at these odds, I’m more than happy to jump on the Browns bandwagon.

To Make the NFL Playoffs prediction: Washington Commanders (+310)
Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
This may come as a shock to some, but I’m quietly high on this Commanders team (fully ready to eat my words in a couple of weeks). However, Washington has put together some interesting pieces over the summer and I’m ready to take a shot on them returning to the postseason, especially with Jayden Daniels under center. This offense was already thrilling last season (it even made Sam Howell look like a superstar at times), and now with Daniels throwing the ball to Terry McLaurin, Zach Ertz and rookie Luke McCaffrey, I believe this team can hit the ground running, especially with the 1-2 punch of Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson operating out of the backfield. Plus, with Dan Quinn calling plays on the defense, I’m expecting a major improvement on last season in that department as well.
It’s also worth calling out the number of teams that have gone from bottom of their division to reaching the playoffs the following year in recent seasons. In 2021, 3 teams met that criteria, in 2022 it was 4 teams, and last year it was the Browns and Texans who pulled it off. There’s almost always at least one franchise that pulls off a surprise turnaround, as Houston did last year behind CJ Stroud, and I believe Washington can do it this year. At +310 odds, I’m more than happy to take a shot on them to find out.
